Plans for today (2025)

I popped to the supermarket for a few bits of food, and managed to end up buying way too much.
At least I can stay away from the shops on the weekend
Still in rest mode here, I was pretty much wiped out for 2 days, I'm definitely feeling human again

We do our shopping on a Saturday as wife works. I'm retarded/retired.

Russ
I am with you on that. I avoid shopping on weekends! Long lines and often out of stock items. Blech.

We go to new world known for more expensive than pak n save
My wifes a closet snob. Not busy Saturday.

Is the produce from there better though?

I know a few people who will when eating something I’ve provided say Where is this from? and I’ll say Waitrose or Marks n Sparks then they’ll start mocking - ooooo Waitrose posh are we?
And yet the thing they’re eating was good enough that they felt the need to ask. Kinda proved the point for me 😂

I shop in cheaper (and more expensive) grocery places too, for me it’s all about the quality and the price has the match that.

My Pa relentlessly took the mick out of me shopping at Waitrose for decades and then lockdown came and I was getting his shopping for him.. from Waitrose.
Guess who’s shopped there ever since?!! 😂

Waiting for my trowel to be delivered so I can get all those lovely flowers buried submerged embedded nope that’s not it, hang on it’s a gardening word, what is it? ... give me a moment, I’ve seen it on the tv.. PLANTED yep that’s it planted.
I think I’m already halfway to being a fully qualified horticulturalist 😂

Today is Saturday, so I usually run around on my own in order to give MrsT some privacy while talking over Zoom to her bestie in Florida.

A little unusual today - heading back up to the VW dealer…you know that little back compartment cover that hatchbacks and SUVs have, that thing that runs the width of the car, fitted behind the back seats, to keep prying eyes from seeing what you may be carrying back there?

Well, MrsT’s new car is missing that. I’ve never had a car not include that as standard equipment, so my assumption was that the dealer took mine out for whatever reason and forgot to replace it before they sold the car, but nope…internet research reveals that is indeed a $125US option.

Before I’d found all that out, I’d texted the dealer and asked about it, because I thought it was included - I finally heard back from them and they said if I came back up, they’d “work something out and take care of you,” so I’m either going to get one at cost, or they’re going to murder me and push the car with my body in it into the Scioto River.

New work laptop - I think I finally have everything set up and working, but it was a bear, taking from about 10AM to 7PM to get it all done, with lots of backtracking and reinstalling this and that, all made worse because in the middle of all this, they made corporate-level dictates, pushing us all to move to OneDrive (that slowed everything down considerably), swapping out my second virtual machine from a VMWare desktop to an infernal MS 365 Cloud virtual desktop, and moving from Cisco AnyConnect/Ping for VPN to ZScaler/MS Authenticator…all at once. It was a nightmare, but I’m smarter than the average bear, if I do say so myself, and managed to get it up and running in the end. I think…

Car will not be ready today. One spare part currently not available so, will have to wait until Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - who knows? Bah, humbug!!
Taxi to the supermarket this morning, then, because I've run out of milk and cheese.

That seems to be the way of it doesn’t it!
Yes. I recall having one tomato plant in the middle of the backyard 2 years ago...

Plans for today are to put cardboard on top of the wire grass that's growing through all the mulch and make a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Store ones are too hard and I don't like buying sugar unless well, it's sugar.

For me, that would have to be captioned, “Me mentally preparing myself to tolerate a yard full of weeds because there’s no way in hell I’m going out there and pulling that thing.”
That's my mindset and I am sticking to it. But we have been on such a major rain trend that we have a good excuse not to do it. Our house is on the top of a slope so our soil is pretty well drained but still somewhat muddy. Did your yard get flooded? At any rate, the weeds should come up pretty easily from wet soil, but I won't be doing any of that (I'm thinking nor will you).

I slept for 10 hours last night without waking up once and I feel pretty awesome! I don't think I've felt this rested in years. I am sure that steady rain helped a lot, and my neighbors dogs weren't barking this morning for a change. They normally ruin morning sleep (large German Shepherds, 4 of them) by their barking at nothing. And since it rained, there weren't Harleys blazing past our house, either.

Going to work this afternoon. I normally don't work weekends but I am working on 3 different projects (not mystery shopping and not involving consuming food) and 2 need to be completed by Wednesday, and today I have 3 locations from the 3 projects that are all in the same direction. Drinking tea ATM.
