Like you, I am a non native English speaker.
I live and have lived in ex-British colonies and colonial English is mixed up with local words and slang.
Took me a while to get the hang of it :)
I'm amazed some days that anyone understands English.

I am a native British English speaker and honestly, I have trouble understanding the local English here in Australia. :banghead:

I've told a few funny stories about the difficulty in understanding another person who (supposedly) speaks the same language in the same country...like just about anywhere in the deep south or in parts of Louisiana it can be challenging.
