Shopping lists

Oh totally. I cannot count the number of times my daughter was on the phone, talking actively to either me or her Dad while walking back home, alone, in the evening hours.

Plus, I have caught myself reaching for the phone and either texting or giving the impression of texting in an uncomfortable similar situation, walking back from work around 10 pm or so..

For the moment I just use post it notes on my phone.
But I do find myself paper jotting, then snapping a pic😊.

What I lack most is the discipline to go through the fridge, freezer and pantry prior to shopping.

It's been a crazy and strenuous year, when things subside, I hope to have the calm and the time to practise this elevated, better shoplist preparation.

Recently, e.g.I bought soy sauce twice within a week because a) I forgot I had purchased it, b) I didn't look to check stated under a)
🫢😏☺️
On my phone screen are my apps and I have an app icon for my notes:

Do you have a similar app?
This is what my shopping list looks like:

My issue with paper lists is one of constantly misplacing them, then I end up with three lists…which are usually conveniently sitting on the kitchen counter once I get to the store.

Exactly! Just last year I was sitting in my car in a parking lot and a man came up and tried to open my car door (it was locked--that's a strong habit of mine that I've taught my daughters as well). He started banging on the window and screaming for me to open the door. I picked up my phone and let him see i was calling 911 emergency and he ran off. By the time the police got there he was long gone. Shook me up though.

My daughter does, but she doesn't shop very often.
Most often I would tell her what to get, or write a WhatsApp text or take a pic of my list. Depending on the circumstances...
Yes, another great reason to have a smartphone. I also like taking a photo of a food item or product while at the store and texting my husband asking if he wants it.

I used paper lists up until about a year ago even though I've been carrying a smartphone for about 8 years (I had a cellphone before that but it didn't have internet capabilities). I use my phone for work so I have to have it with me and I'm often having to take photos and upload them to an app for my jobs. I don't know why it took me so long to quit wasting paper on writing lists.

On a side note, I've been happy to have a cellphone on more than one occasion since I travel so much. I've been stranded on the side of the road a few times over the years with a flat tire or mechanical issues where it's been a godsend to be able to call for help.
Glad it works for you. I would have a hard time finding time to enter things on the cell phone. I do have one and it is a smart phone. I rarely carry it and almost never use it. I prefer using a computer with a proper keyboard and the computer has the benefit of its inability to receive and send texts. Luckily I have found a cell service that costs only $13.15 per month, everything included. Want to talk to me? I have two landline numbers you can use, even with a cell phone.

texting my husband asking if he wants it.
So true.
At Lidl there are certain Thursday items/offers released, that sometimes I need to get for my boyfriend, if his local Lidl sold out. So I snap/ text him or even call him to specify if that colour/size or whatever parameter is the right one...

I have a landline, 2 desktop computers, a laptop, a cellphone, and lots of time, lol. Thinking about getting a tablet too...lol. Nah. I'm good!

I do need my home office desktop as well for more detailed and narrative heavy work reports, but when I'm working in the field (stores) I have to be able to enter details on my phone. I use my stopwatch and laps features on the phone a lot.

I understand the utility and the wild popularity of cell phones. I just prefer using computers. Years ago I had a systems integration business and never grew out of it I guess. My landlines are actually VOIP on the the internet. I have 3 laptops and 5 desktops on the network. Most of them are for the business.

I can't lug my computers into the stores when I'm working lol. My laptop is cumbersome as well and certainly is not discreet, as sometimes my work involves being covert. A smartphone is discreet and for taking timings on service it's wonderful.

I’m at the other end of the spectrum. I have a cellphone, and…wait, that’s all I have!

The last words out of my mouth before I head out to shop are, “Text me if you think of something you want!” - and there’s usually something she thinks of.

My DH usually texts me what he forgot he needed after I've left the store!
