When I was moved back to the US from the UK, the last 10 days or so, I was on my own and staying with an “older” woman who had a room to let (all the billeting on the air base was full up).
The room included breakfast, eaten with her at the little table in her kitchen, and she told me the first morning to just tell her what I wanted and she’d make it, and she rattled off, “Cooked breakfast [meaning full English], scrambled eggs, porridge…,” and I asked for the cooked breakfast, and she made that, and it was fine.
I had that every morning for the next five or six mornings, and she finally got a little fed up with it and began to strongly hint that most folks don’t eat a full English every
day, young man!
