More raspberries... <licks lips>

View attachment 122997
Most people don’t know this, but the song “Raspberry Beret” was originally called “Raspberries All Day,” and had a much more…innocent meaning, written when Prince was touring in SatNav’s area at the time and spied a young Scottish lass from the tour bus…Hmmmm…

She ate raspberries all day
The kind she’d find in the garden next door
Raspberries all day
She’d easily eat her weight and more
Raspberries all day
And she calls chickens ‘chooks’

It was only after his manager told him a song about a young poultry aficionado eating raspberries from the neighbor’s patch really wasn’t compelling enough to be a hit that he changed it to a song about a dalliance with a woman in a red hat at the Woolworth’s.

Trying a new recipe, because I have a tub of creme fraiche about to go off, and I’ve never made creme fraiche pancakes before. They do fry up a nice color, that’s for sure.

The last pancake is always the biggest* because you look at the batter and think, “Oh, I can probably get one more,” and then you scrape and scrape, and the next thing you know, a pancake that’s the size of three - so I got a little creative with the plating.

Just so you can see the innards.

*I’m really resisting the urge to song-parody “The First Cut is the Deepest!”

because I have a tub of creme fraiche about to go off,
I've never quite understood how things like sour cream or creme fraiche can go off unless they've got mold actually growing on them. I always found buttermilk far better about 1 month after its BB date (kept in the fridge for that time).

I have some December dated buttermilk in the refrigerator. I keep the date turned backwards so my OH can't see it because that would freak him out, lol. We don't drink buttermilk and he doesn't cook, I use it for baking. I would use sour cream after it's BB but no way would he do so.

Buttermilk, sour cream, creme fraiche, I’ll use after the date, but I use the date as a marker for when to start paying attention to the product, as I know both sour cream and creme fraiche will start to mold pretty quickly after it, and if I’m not paying attention, I’ll miss seeing the mold and use it.

Stir with an eye closed! 😬
