They are very similar to a fig biscuit. Not very sweet but I did not detect the taste of cheese.

Not in the past, no. However, probably that's why they don't taste of cheese.

I bought some like this a while ago - but such a pain to extract the pulp that I gave up in the end and now use tamarind paste from a jar.

My wife doesn't bother extracting the pulp she just pok-poks the lot. It is very fresh though.
