Nasi ayam (chicken rice) is very popular in Malaysia. Although quite tasty I couldn't eat it. A whole steamed chicken was indiscriminately chopped with a cleaver resulting in slivers of shattered chicken bone in the servings. Very uncomfortable in the mouth.

I've never prepared pandan chicken myself but there is a restaurant in town which used to serve an excellent one. Last time that I went there it wasn't as good. Could be that they've changed the chef or my memory has faded.

The Chinese name for the dish that the Thais, Malaysians and Singaporians call Hainanese chicken. Wencheng is a city on Hainan Island.
