Prolly shes just lazy???

Russ
No, probably she isn't good at making decisions. Probably not about much of anything. She is married? Maybe her husband makes all the important decisions and this is just one of those things he leaves for her to decide on her own? Which apparently is a problem, LOL.

Here’s how our driveway looks this morning:

Already, there is considerable melting, but I like chipping up the snow/ice, and right now, it’s peeling off in big chunks. Fun!

I was out this morning breaking it up, and my neighbor drove by, stopped, lowered his window and shouted, “Ya better hurry ‘fore it melts!”

Currently my main issue is with the shower, I have poor blood circulation and can't turn off the water when I'm shampooing my hair or using soap, I get so cold my body aches. I keep a portable heater in the bathroom, but because I shower with the curtain closed, the heat doesn't reach me when I'm in the shower. I'm starting to place the heater in a different place in the bathroom so that the heat is directed towards me, hopefully that will help me save water in the shower.
I am the same so we shower standing in a big bucket. It means our feet stay warm and hence we're much warmer especially in winter when it's very cold out. We just bought a flexible bucket that's 75L or so in size. It has a large base so no issues with moving, turning etc and fills up to mid to high calf height. Gives the feet a good soak as well and for us, at least, when it's drought, we can collect a decent volume of water to water the garden with after it has cooled down.

That sent alarm signals to me - its very dangerous to use an electric powered heater in a bathroom, I believe due to the proximity of water. Maybe someone else can advise on this.
It's completely different outside of the UK.
Here in Australia we have normal main sockets in the bathroom, normal light switches and so on. It seems to be something the UK is paranoid about. But I still dry my hands thoroughly before flicking the light switch for the bathroom off. In the UK, it would be a pull cord from the ceiling or outside of the bathroom completely.
The bathroom is still on it's own ring mains though so has it's own fuse in the fuse box handily placed on the outside of the building. Something I've not got the hang of. If the fuse has tripped on a cold wet winters night, the last thing I want to do is to go outside to fight with the weatherproof box it's in to open it and flick the switch. So much easier in the UK with the fuse box being inside the house.

This is my bathroom (due to be renovated soon but it will keep the power outlets. It's the original bathroom from 1965!). We also run an electric heater in it as well, but it is always removed just before we shower. Old habits i guess.

My breaker box is outside. Most homes here have them in the garage, but my garage is a totally separate structure. Wiring to the garage runs through a conduit under my patio (there are only a couple of wires running to the garage).

The least said about the wiring in my garage, the better. There's 1 wire , with 1 mains socket. We've had to add an extension cable to run the deep freezer and add in the option to run the external cable to a water pump, another cable or two to battery rechargers... It was at this point i said no more. Usually there is a maximum of 2 things running at once though (deep freeze and 1 other). Anything else has to be charged in the mud room, such as the jump starter battery pack (for flat vehicle batteries), the electric fence battery recharger, the dehydrator, the ice maker and so on.

There are also 2 florescent strip lights in the garage... again the least said about the state of the wiring... if we owned the place, i'd have rewired the garage myself by now but we don't so...

I was looking for an ice cream (failed)...
This is the garage wiring!

The single socket goes to as extension lead. The freezer obviously is on all the time (it's also now on bricks to keep it out of any future flooding). The battery chargers and the external 50m extension lead for the water pump are only used as needed and only ever 2 things at once, nothing more.

It's not too bad. I've seen much worse.

The lights are dubious. I know if the wire is moved, the insulation will 'fail'. Luckily I have no intention on touching it.
