Must seem odd after so much home-working.
Very, very much so. The first half of the morning was everyone just saying hello and visiting and hugging each other, then we went for a two-hour lunch, and now, everyone is sleepy and people are starting to leave.

I wouldn’t want to come back to my old schedule (three days home, two days office), but I wouldn’t argue too much over one day every other week.

I'm with you on the motorcycles, but the few years I played golf were NOT enjoyable, and definitely not relaxing.

Yeah, people tend to beat themselves up when they don't play well even though they might not have been playing long. For me I started playing golf with my father at around 8 years old, took decent lessons for a few years, played well for most of my life except the last decade where I play 2 or 3 times a year and my game is not great now, but it's still a sport where I can have fun with a bunch of friends, drink beer and think of nothing else for a few hours except putting that white ball in a hole. And the hamburger at the end or maybe a hot dog with another beer. Cheers.

Dreadful weather again today, very strong wind and rain, won't be going out for a walk this morning :(

Doesn't sound like very much work was done. It reminds me of ghastly 'away days' which my University used to have. And I do mean ghastly. All sorts of stupid role playing and bonding activities in the name of producing a more cohesive corporate senior work team. It didn't work and was a total waste of money.

I was lucky that I never became involved in all that. As I was 10,000km away and there was just me and my secretary, I was excused (and became infamous as the only employee who was).

That strikes fear into my heart

Just the minimum, but it was understood the entire purpose of coming in was to meet each other in person.

The two IT teams that work here, we’ve both had management changes in the last six months, and our new managers are spread far and wide, so it really was just a get-to-know-the-new-bosses sort of thing, and a chance for them to take us out to lunch, bring in doughnuts, buy us a beer after work (I missed that part, sadly).

The CFO at a software company I worked for used to have Friday "staff meetings" from time time. His assistant would come around to our offices, and say, "staff meeting in Lee's office at five." Those of us asked to attend would arrive at his office, and find ice cold beers. A little business might get discussed, but not much.
