I would love that

But not this.

Guess there's always something 😉 we're at least lucky that the heat should only last two days.. fingers crossed! 🙏
I do love the weather like it is now. Just a good summer storm, and cooling. All the windows open.

The power…I didn’t realize it was out until I opened the fridge, so I shut it back up quick to hold in the cold. Hopefully everything’s back up and on again soon. Heading out for breakfast now, since I can’t cook anything.

It’s fair week in town, so here are some pics from the local paper:

Must be raining across the entire state since you are in the SW part of the state and I am in the NE part of the state, and it's been a steady rain here and cool also. I am not opening the windows because I don't want the humidity.

Glad we didn't lose power since we have a well, so no water if we lose power.

I work in Celsius .... Or Kelvins. Fahrenheit is something I have to convert to... I'm pretty much completely metric. I have to take a step back and change things round to talk to older family members.

I have an app on my phone that instantly converts both ways.

It’s hard to see in a picture, but it’s pouring down buckets right now, and has been since about 4AM, thunder and lightening as well. Pretty much the forecast all day today.

It’s about 70F/20C right now.

I envy you... and whats all that green stuff on the ground?

I do the old “double-it-and-add-30” formula for C to F, which isn’t exact, and only works for temps in the “normal/usual” range, but it gets it close enough for me.

Weeds, mainly.

Our ground cover in the backyard is mostly wild strawberry plants. They are soft and don't grow terribly high, and they do produce very small teeny berries that the birds like to eat. It stays very green and doesn't need much mowing. And yes, there are a few weeds, but the strawberries do a good job of choking them out for the most part.

I use set known figures that are easy to remember...
-18°C = 0F
0°C = 32F,
16°C=61F,
28°C=82F,
37°C=98.6F and
200°C=400F

After that it's a case of remembering it's less than double for each increase (9/5)... so I just go up in 5°C increments (9F) or 2.5°C increments (4.5F) and guesstimate.

There's also a chart on the fridge with oven temp conversions...

I prefer to keep my head thinking and doing basic maths in my head, than rely on a calculator. My phone has a calculator with built in conversation tools, but I still prefer to do basics in my head. Plus there is always the fall back of a search engine "16°C in F" if and only if I have a phone handy & power. More often than not, my phone will not be anywhere to be found until an alarm sounds.

Okay, so today and tomorrow are forecast as 38 and 40 degrees celcius here. Then that should be around 100/105 f right?

If 37°C is 98.6F and it's less than 2F per 1°C, (accurately it's 9/5), then 38°C is under 100.6F and 39.5°C is 4.5F higher than 37°C (half of 9/5 which is 4½/2½), so add 4.5F to the 37°C Fahrenheit equivalent.... 98.6F + 4.5F = 103.1F, so if 39.5°C is only 103F, 40°C won't be 105F but 104F... but what's 1F amongst friends? :giggle:

The exact calculation is (x × 9/5) + 32 = y

X is Celsius and Y is Fahrenheit

Whew, that's complicated! Glad I never need to do this.
