Heavy rains today. So heavy that it started raining from my kitchen's chimney and it rained all over my stovetop and the kitchen counter  I need to contact the building administrator asap.

Unbelievable what sometimes ends up in my hospital file. Some dimwit has written that I have PTSD because I'm difficult to give an injection. No dimwit, I have PTSD from sexual violence and have never in my life had a problem with being difficult to inject.
The problem with medical files is, this nonsense will live forever because if it's written down it's very hard to remove.. sigh.

Please feel free to quote. I also had a sleepless night...
Well, he speaks of different levels of consciousness and our ability to control our thoughts..We can choose what to think about and/or think of nothing at all..counting your breathing, focusing on a body part and how it feels, like your hands, for example..or, thinking of things that make us feel good instead of things we worry about..the future is basically your imagination so you can imagine any outcome you want...why dwell on the negative ones?

This is a very simplistic explanation. He goes on to describe other ways to go about calming an over active mind and control the types of things we tend to think about at 3:30 in the morning that we don't have to..lol..

If you watch YouTube at all he has a bunch of videos..As Casey says, he't not everybody's cup of tea and I have only watched some of his talks but he is an interesting little fella..

Some water down the chimney is not unusual in heavy rains, especially with wind blowing the rain. Rain water drips into my fireplace on a regular basis when we get a good storm.

The problem is that I have been there, done that, didn't work. There is NEVER a time when my mind is thinking of nothing at all. Breathing focus, body focus, all the other elements related to meditation don't work for me.

With Tolle, I just get the impression that these meditative practices come easy to him. He looks and sounds like he is on sedatives all the time. I just don't know if he, or the many other speakers who are like him, understand what it is like to be me.

I have a hard time with it, too..and it comes and goes over time..but I repeat the simple message to myself ...sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But, over the last few years, even if it works some of the time, it is better than not trying at all...I think some of the success is in the attempt..it is a distraction if nothing else..lol

When I am up against a deadline, or I'm facing a creative challenge, I get into "the zone" that I mentioned earlier. Then, I can focus like a laser on that one thing... and only that one thing.

I also am able to focus when I am doing something really physical that requires full attention. That's why I loved skiing, when my body could still handle it. Same thing with riding my SeaDoo, or driving my track car at Motorsports Ranch (kind of a country club for motorheads). If something grabs my attention, and won't let go, I'm fine. It is when I have nothing to do that my brain sometimes won't shut up, and let me relax... or sleep.

Checking my county election results this morning, I had to laugh a little at just how conservative my county is.

They list the votes cast for each candidate and any ballot issues, and right down the line, roughly 9,800 votes cast in favor of conservatives and 2,300 votes in favor of liberals.

The usually call our local races about 22 seconds after the polls close.

Wicked case of insomnia tonight. It's one of those nights where my brain just won't SHUT UP!

Here are all the tips I know so far
Don't watch into a screen (TV, PC etc.) 1 hour before bedtime, they have blue light what will keep your brain thinking it's daytime.
Go to sleep on the same time if possible, then your body does know when the sleeping hormone melatonin should be produced.
Don't eat 2 or 3 hours before bedtime, avoid the sweet stuff, even a toast with jam can fire up your metabolism again, caffeine the same.
Don't do heavy exercising.
Start a ritual before bedtime, as our memory connects it to the production of melatonin.
Take sleeping pills, I'm using an easy one with valerian, hops, melatonin and some types of vit b
Sleep-meditation or reading an not to intense roman is good as well
Best tipp: as I wasn't doing anything of them in times with sleeping problems, I'd to find out which is working and I was wondering how fast and good they're actually working. One of them will definitely work for you, as you can at least sleep in regular times, so just try em. For me sleeping-meditation, regular bedtime and doing nothing intense for 1 hour before were tthe solutions

My county is mostly Republican, but this election wasn't as lopsided as in past years. There were, however, about 20 offices, mostly judges, that had Republican candidates running unopposed.

Overall, this midterm election wasn't the bloodbath that the news media was predicting. Candidates who campaigned with a promise that, if elected, no winning Presidential candidate would ever be certified by them unless it was a Republican candidate have lost, so far.

Five states had ballot initiatives on Tuesday that would change their state constitutions to prohibit slavery and indentured servitude. One state actually rejected that change... Louisiana.

I don't know all the details, but I have heard that Louisiana makes use of prison labor, which could be seen as indentured servitude, so that may have been involved??? I don't know.

Since slavery and indentured servitude is prohibited by federal law, these changes to state constitutions was not a necessity, but still a good thing to do, IMO.
