There's a fix for that - when you get down to the last inch or so cheese to grate...just stop. You'll save your knuckles and since that small an amount of cheese is too little to put back, you get a nice bit of a treat to eat for your trouble.Numpty alert! I was grating cheese and accidently grated my knuckle as well, good job I am married to a trained first aider.
Why, I've been known to grab an 8oz block of cheddar, grate off about an ounce, then (purely in the interest of safety, mind), eat the other seven ounces, just to be safe.
