Flu Jab anecdotal evidence. I got the first jab because of my heart attack. My wife did not bother. She had work for her then employer for 6 years with not a days absence due to illness. She got a very vicious strain and for the first two weeks she only left the bed to go to the toilet and shower. I had to help her get to the bathroom and provide assistance inside. Why did I remain flu free, I think it was the vaccine as most sane people would. I have no doubt the Covid vaccine will give us the same protection. Which one, I don't give a flying fig as long as the EU regulatory body has passed it.

On this day in 1962, the Beatles – scruffy, clad in leather and unknown outside their home town of Liverpool – travelled through snow in a van for 220 miles to make a recording audition in London. And they were turned down.

In charge at the Decca studios where the audition was held was senior A&R man Dick Rowe. His assistant, Mike Smith, had seen the Beatles perform at what was to become the famous Cavern Club and had put forward the audition suggestion to their manager, Brian Epstein.

It lasted about an hour and the Beatles – John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and the original drummer, Pete Best – performed 15 songs. They were nervous and the session did not go particularly well but Smith told them afterwards that he “saw no problems” and they would have a decision “in a few weeks”.

Epstein let the “few weeks” pass, then, fed up with waiting, phoned Rowe and asked for a decision. It was not what he expected. “Groups with guitars are on the way out,” Rowe allegedly said, adding that he believed “the Beatles have no future in show business”.

Brexit, we left the UK because of Brexit. We are both principled people. The beat of the xenophobic drum was to much for us. Our schadenfreude is tempered only because of family and friends living in the septic Isle.

Yorkers mate when I worked in the Industry we sent 15 blank CDs to A&R depts of leading labels in the UK and America. 14 responded with "thank you, but unfortunately we are not interested in your type of music at present".

That'll be the sounds of silence then.... sorry I couldn't resist!

Nor mine but that's fine by me - I didn't send them one either. Its never been something we do so I don't even think about it.
They'll do it for each other, whilst I'm in bed (or was in bed.)
It's just since we decided that we had to do something for us rather than always being there for them, they've changed. Complaints if we said happy birthday when it wasn't yet their birthday in their timezone, or Christmas or new year etc. But forget the fact that as far as I'm concerned, it's the 2nd January now, (which it is) and so far not one has said happy New Year to me, just to them. It's all one way, never two way and at times it gets to me. But apparently I must not complain, so I have been told. 😠

Not a single one of my family has even sent a text message, email or messenger chat to wish me happy New Year.
My husband's parents have just rung us. One of them was still getting out of bed (He's 81). They rang my mobile, not my husband's.
Same . But like you, my inlaws do 😍
