I'm sorry if I insulted one or more members with my spelling posts (here; I deleted the one about "tumeric" but it can be seen in the comments of other members); they were more about my persnickety and sarcastic nature than about anyone's occasional misspelling. We all misspell at times - and I certainly am not picking on anyone's English or persona. Tumeric (corr. turmeric) is a very common misspelling which stems from the pronunciation and is an absolutely negligible thing for anyone else than a non-native English speaker (like me) who has to focus on spelling and grammatical matters on a daily basis - and thus (maybe) spots misspellings a bit easier. I emphasize once again that this whole misspelling show is not about any member, their skills or personas. It's about my pedantic nature and closed-mindedness - and my apparent flaws in social behavior. Peace, I hope - and end of misspelling discussion.
I have no idea what spelling misdemeanours you may think you have committed, but really, don't worry about it. Have I missed something? I have never seen any flaws,

Now I'm going to have to read all your posts for misspellings!

I used to be very adamant about my own posts - to this day I nearly (but not always) preview my posts for correct spelling and (what I think is) correct grammar, but in the last couple of years, I think my brain has stopped working because I'll see something of mine quoted...and there's a mistake.

I'm pretty forgiving with other people, just not with myself. I had an English creative writing professor (in both senses of the word English), and you'd have thought he'd have been a stickler for such things...nope. His philosophy was, "If I understand what you're trying to communicate, then you've done your job getting your message across to me."

I'm very critical of my own misspellings, too. It's funny, though, that I often don't see them until after I make my post. Then, I have to edit them.

The current OS on my MacBook has an over-aggressive spell check. I don't always catch what it changes, until later. It won't accept certain words. It will not let me type "queso," it keeps changing it to quest. I have to actively make it accept queso.

On waste we have three bins, green is weekly and gets sent to compost facility, ours is always full every week.
We also have yellow which is recycling every two weeks alternating with a red bin which is rubbish like household bin liners etc. all free, well it's included in our rates.
Water is free, although I tend to waste it as our council gave free water rights to the Chinese for bottling and taking back to China. I'm not happy about that!!

Spell check puts words I never typed. Grammar I'm easy with.

it's a rainy dank dreary day, so I thought DW could use a pick-me-up

Well, the traveling vet is scheduled to come by the house Monday morning to see to old Kate. Can't complain, she made it 18-19 years or so, which is pretty damn good for a dog, but we all know...it's time.

Having a very strong bourbon and 7Up right now, and I know who's getting the living sh!t spoiled out of them tomorrow. 🐶

Go Kate! Fingers crossed.

When I had to put Casey down, it was scheduled for a Monday. She ate nothing but people food that weekend. We shared a steak, and I made a batch of my beef and vegetable soup (almost like a stew), which was one of her favorites. The soup was rather spicy, and with age, her taste buds had lost a lot of their capabilities (along with her hearing, eyesight, bladder control and ability to go up and down stairs), so the soup was something she could taste.

She was 17 years old.

Its going to hit you hard. I went through this back in May. Sega was not yet 4 years old and that beautiful dynamic little dog had wasted away due to non treatable kidney disease. I still have dreams and nightmares and can be prone to tears. Kate won't know what is happening but somehow that makes it worse. I feel for you.

Well, I know there's a scoop of vanilla ice cream in her near-future.

I'm trying to be somewhat positive about the whole thing. It's what's best for her. I know that. But I'm going to miss her. A lot.

We discussed it the day after Christmas, made the decision, and we were going to call on Monday to set it up for Wednesday, but it's like I said...it's time.

MrsT has been a wreck since then, so it'll be better for her as well. Once it's done, then the getting through it can start.

So sorry to hear that. Been there before, heart goes to to you both..

Our first dog (as a married couple) was shot by a neighbor. She was eight. If I could have killed that bastard, I would have, but shooting dogs in a farming community isn't unusual, because a stray dog is seen as a threat. Didn't make it any better.

With Kate, she's probably close to 19 years old. She's had a good...make that a great run. We've had her over 16 years ourselves. That does make it easier, especially seeing her decline, just in the last month. It's all age-related, and it can't be fixed or managed much more, and we've had the discussion with the vet the last couple of visits about "the time is drawing near."

I know you mentioned Sega in a PM a while ago, and when they're that young, that's what's so hard. It's hard enough with Kate at her age, but to have to euthanize a dog so young...hard isn't the word for it.

Make sure the vet will have her cremated. There are two levels. In the first, the dog is cremated with other dogs at one time. You can also pay more to have her cremated alone, and get the ashes, if you want to scatter them like one would a human relative.

Some vets "dispose" of the dog in less that dignified ways (land fill). You have to ask.

Yup - already got that set up. We're getting her ashes back. Thanks.

What does your beer cost per litre and what strength?

Cost is £1.75/litre in Makro; £2.00 - £2.25 in normal bars. Strength of the one I buy has just been reduced from 5% to 4.5% abv (without a price reduction).
