This is close to home... way too close. 8.2 miles close.
We’ve been following this, as MrsT’s best friend’s brother (so he’s her friend as well) also lives within 10 miles of that outlet and shops there frequently.

I don’t usually comment on the shootings anymore, as it’s turned into a “shooting of the week” situation now, and as bad as it sounds, I can’t even keep track any longer.

Now, on the news, they’ll talk about this or that shooter being sentenced, after months of trial, and I’ll have to remind myself…”Which one was that one? Was that the kid who went into the church, or the guy who went into the club, or other guy who went into a bank, or the other kid who went into a school?” I just can’t remember any longer.

I remember after the first few (starting with Columbine) thinking, “That’s awful, but the chances of that happening in my area are just about nil,” and then we had one in Cincy…and Dayton…and a little further out in Cleveland…and Pittsburgh, where my employer is headquartered and we lost a coworker…and now it feels like it’s just a matter of time before it comes to my town, my office, my Kroger.

This is the first one to happen someplace I actually shop.

If you look at that mall, it is a perfect place for a psycho to choose for a mass shooting. It is an outdoor mall, with a big parking lot surrounded by a ring of stores. There are four entrance/exits for cars. It is like a big corral for people.

This overhead view is properly oriented N/S/E/W. Most of my favorite stores are on the East and South sides. The divided roadway South of the mall is called Stacy Road, which becomes Main Street in Frisco about six miles West of the mall.

On the other side of the Freeway (East of mall), there are two more malls. Both are outdoor malls, but are spread out -- not boxed in like the mall the shooter chose.

Time for another round of "thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families." Nothing else is going to happen, especially in a Red State like Texas.
Here in Venezuela, there are an average of 26 homicides daily; many caused by gunshot wounds. Same thing - nothing is going to happen. Do you sort of "switch off" after a while? I know I do. It's a helpless feeling, but perhaps people (like me) just block it out. If you can't actually do something positive about it, then why worry?
I know that sounds cynical, but I do wonder whether it happens in other places!

That sounds so much fun (especially as I'm virtually immobilised in terraced house Maidstone).

I love boudin noir.
What's going on? I'd hoped that your surgery would have helped. Did it not work?

I'm not particularly mobile yet. Made lots of progress too early on, and it is much slowed if late but I am managing 10 minutes on the treadmill or outside when it's warm enough and 5 minutes on the recumbent exercise bike. But my muscles in that leg are playing up big time and there is irregular swelling at the scar site that I need to speak to them about. It did have a large marble size swelling (ganglion or burser, I'm not sure which) that burst at week 3. Since then it has partially reformed but won't burst. It's sore and exactly where my underwear sits, so it's rubbing a little. That's actually not as painful as it could be. The muscles are that tight and taut still that they are making my ankle and knee hurt. I see my doctor today and the consultant on Wednesday so will raise it then.

My sister contacted me last night which is unusual. It usually means there's an issue.

My mum told me that there has been a murder in my sister's village and she's very shaken. My sister and younger brother went to school opposite the house that it took place outside and the offender used to regularly frequent (3 or 4 times a week, every week, in the it's Friday so he's at this pub manner) the pub that my sister cleans at and lives next to.

It would appear that the man was on a drugs high and went on a violent rampage. The first person he met was his mother. She died of her injuries 3 days on Saturday.

In this case, my first thought was "Holy $#%!, I shop there!" I have a kitchen full of stuff from that mall. I got my Nike shoes there. I have shirts in my closet from there.

I went to Walmart today for some bread rolls, and I looked around the parking lot for anything suspicious. I didn't plan to do that, I just did.

Update: The shooter is a 33 year old man with a hispanic name, but who left a trail of Neo-Nazi and white supremacist posts all over social media. But then again, I have an Italian name, and I'm forth generation American. It is quite common in Texas to meet third or fourth generation Americans with latino names. Some of them look down on recent immigrants, especially those who are here illegally.

Sounds like its not quite the plain sailing one would hope for.
Still early days though, hope it starts behaving soon! 🤞

So I've had a bit of bronchitis for a week and was feeling awful, just kept getting worse. Yesterday I sent a message to my doctor though the mycharrt system with my healthcare explaining my symptoms and asking if he could call in an antibiotic for it. He agreed and put me on augmentin. Two doses in today and my symptoms are nearly gone and...fingers crossed...my tinnitus is gone! I don't know if this is just a fluke but for now, the ringing in my ears is gone for the first time in 4 years...so happy. It might be temporary but I'm so content at the moment. Not drowning and my brain is quiet. Ahhhh.
My doc (woman) is the same with me.
I e mail her and she sends a script through to bargain chemist. I can pick up same day. I too had augmentin.
