We’ve been following this, as MrsT’s best friend’s brother (so he’s her friend as well) also lives within 10 miles of that outlet and shops there frequently. This is close to home... way too close. 8.2 miles close.
I don’t usually comment on the shootings anymore, as it’s turned into a “shooting of the week” situation now, and as bad as it sounds, I can’t even keep track any longer.
Now, on the news, they’ll talk about this or that shooter being sentenced, after months of trial, and I’ll have to remind myself…”Which one was that one? Was that the kid who went into the church, or the guy who went into the club, or other guy who went into a bank, or the other kid who went into a school?” I just can’t remember any longer.
I remember after the first few (starting with Columbine) thinking, “That’s awful, but the chances of that happening in my area are just about nil,” and then we had one in Cincy…and Dayton…and a little further out in Cleveland…and Pittsburgh, where my employer is headquartered and we lost a coworker…and now it feels like it’s just a matter of time before it comes to my town, my office, my Kroger.
