Rumour has it that they would have monthly parties with all of the confiscated booze from the past few weeks

I'm sure they did. Sometimes, the police would make you pour out the bottles so you couldn't drink any more of it. But, what else would they do with all that confiscated booze? We used to joke that throwing away the beer was "alcohol abuse", so we figured they were doing exactly that.

Cops where I lived in Florida would take away our weed, LOL. We never got in any trouble for having it though.

A close relative of mine who lived in london said the best place to by drugs (due to having every conceivable variety available) was behind the police station. He said you just had to make a sharp exit so they didn't get confiscated again if you walked around the front 😆

That's kinda' like a Mexican drug sting. Some guy sells you a bag of weed, and leaves just as the policia arrive. They confiscate the weed, and threaten to take you to jail unless you give them all the money in your pockets. Then, they let you go and do it again to some other gringos.

CD

A Mexican drug sting, haven‘t heard of that before 😆
Over here it’s called entrapment and is illegal.
Is that illegal in the States?

Poor old Italy, terrible flood there yesterday, they estimate 20,000 have been left homeless 🙁
I am currently negotiating with a company in the region to buy a €500k coil winding machine from them. All the main roads around their town have been closed and much of the land is inundated. The terrain is very flat farming country like the Fens in the UK.

Well, those who know me here know that one of my great sources anxiety is job security, in large part because the closer I get to retirement, the more paranoid I get that I’ll get laid off, because that’s exactly how the universe likes to 🤬 with me.

Today, I think I got a bump up in that respect, but not in the best way - a coworker just quit. I think having to go back to the office two days a week (without a good reason), and a new requirement laid on us to rotationally staff an enterprise “preemptive” support center (again, without a good reason), spurred him to seek another position.

I work in the financial sector, and the way things are going right now, I doubt we’ll get backfilled anytime soon, so it’s back to on-call every three weeks, and having to pick up a fairly substantial workload that he leaves behind.

The Universe: Here’s some completely free toilet paper, Tasty.
Me: Wow, thanks! Not every day you get something free, for no reason!
The Universe: <drops trousers>

I talk to employees of the financial sector company you work for. None of them seem to like their jobs since that company bought out the one they used to work for. A lot of customers feel the same.

Hey, you can move to Texas and probably make a lot more money. IT is booming here. You are already used to living in a state with a lot of rednecks, so that wouldn't be a big change.

CD 😎
