And they don't have them in the UK.

There are exotic pets kept in most countries (some kept illegally). So of course they are an American species but people do keep exotic animals as pets.

Edited to add that it's obvious the cat in question is a domestic cat with some rather unusual markings.

My best friend and I talk about the drinking we did, and the stupid things we did while drinking as teenagers, and wonder how we never got arrested. It was the 1970s, so weed was mixed in there, too. But, being in the small, blue collar town of Port Arthur, Texas in the 1970s, being arrested would have led to a call to our parents. Today, it leads to thousands of dollars in legal fees and some jail time.

As an adult, with a good career in progress, a 20-year mortgage to pay, and other responsibilities, I moderated my drinking. So did my closest friends. At my 40-year reunion, I couldn't believe he/she is dead. :( And, I couldn't believe other Hes/shes were alive.

Now, it doesn't matter. Genetics caught up to me, and I had to give up drinking. Go figure. 🤷‍♂️

I remember a friend telling me he was drinking and driving in Texas around that time. When I say drinking and driving, I mean he was driving while sipping from a beer bottle. He got pulled over, and when the officer asked him for license and registration, he looked down, and saw the beer bottle between his legs. He looked at the bottle, then looked at the officer, trying to figure out what to say. Before he said anything, the officer said, "Oh, don't worry. I know you're not drunk." He got a warning for speeding, and he was on his way. Things have changed a bit since then!

Yes, back in the 1970s it was legal to drink while driving a car in Texas... as long as you weren't drunk. In fact, it was legal until 2001. In the 70s, the legal age for drinking was 18, so in 1979, I could legally purchase alcoholic beverages, and drink while driving my car.

In college, we had a "Beer Barn" near my dormitory. Drive through beer sales. It actually is still there, although "open containers" are now illegal in cars in Texas. You have to take your purchase somewhere, park your car, and then you can drink -- basically just like any other alcoholic beverage purchase. They sell beer, wine and spirits there.

Here it is...

The downside to having a cat flap in the backdoor, any old Tom, Dick or Harry can just wander in. It looks like a youngster, hopefully it will learn with age to stay away.
Yup. I remember working in the kitchen, hearing the flap, looking down expecting to see Kate, and seeing the head of a dog that was about the size of a small bear!

There is a new cat in our area, one who came into our house once, it looks similar to this. Beautiful creature, but we don't want it in our house again, last night Merlot chased it off so hopefully it might get the message.

Yeah, as JAS_OH1 says that looks like a Bengal. That is one very expensive cat!

That looks like a bobcat, which is Native to North America, and we occasionally have one wander into a neighborhood in Frisco. They are dagerous to small pets, but don't generally mess with anything their own size or larger. Psycho-poodle was roughly the same size and weight, so he was big enough to be safe.

We have Manx cats with shortened tails but they are not wild. There is only one type of wild cat in the UK (in Scotland) and that is judged to be no longer viable due to inter breeding with domestic cats. There are currently attempts to re-introduce it: How wildcats will be reared for release in England and Wales

It is beautiful and yes looks expensive, I would hesitate to let it out to be honest.

Drinking and driving was very common in our area back in the 70's when I was a teenager..we even had an activity called a Booze Cruise. We'd get a case of beer and drive around the back roads...when we had town police, they were active members of our community with kids our age so they would pretty much just send people home with a warning..if they pulled you over twice the same night, they would take your beer...the ultimate insult..

Rumour has it that they would have monthly parties with all of the confiscated booze from the past few weeks

Seriously, that's not funny Russ. There are lots of abused women in our country...probably most countries.
It is a worldwide tragedy that’s not taken seriously and allows a ridiculously high murder rate that is mostly simply ignored.
It varies from country to country. I believe in the US the figure is 21 women a week. In the UK it’s 2 a week. Obviously there‘s a large population difference between these two countries, the main difference is most of these murders by a partner in the US are gun related.

Sorry boils my p*ss how accepted it is.
