My step tracker is nagging me. Despite 3 hours gardening today I've only recorded this many steps

As I said to my doctor last week, all it does is prove how often I don't have my phone with me!

My target is low because of the hip and back issues plus I don't carry the phone around much! Lol

That’s how mine looks a lot of the time. I’m on my feet in the house all day, constantly going from room to room for this and that, going out to get the mail, etc, but I don’t carry my phone.

It’s why I got MrsT a Fitbit for Christmas. Since WeightWatchers gives her food credits (extra points) for steps, she was obsessively carrying her giant iPhone every time she moved, and was getting aggravated with it.

We’re apparently on our way to six inches of snow here. Flakes the size of lettuce leaves are tumbling from the heavens as I type.

Out of the perspective of a sportsman the giant iPhone would be even better for her, if she's someone with low patience, as it provides more weight.

BTW, I'm not an expert in Chinese zodiac but I guess the astrologist never intended to give anybody a bad feeling, because they're born in the wrong year

I have a fit bit. Use it on and off. I exceeded the steps, calories burnt, etc. every day due to the physical demands of my job. But, for some
reason my belly wanted nothing to do with it. It stayed put.

That’ll happen when your steps are a triangle from the roast station to the beer storage to the desserts cart… :whistling:
A doctor friend told me that your body and metabolism gets used to a certain amount of calorie burning from consistent, every day activity. If you want to lose more weight you have to exceed your daily average. So, what is a good level of activity for one person my not be sufficient for another. I have to reset my target levels. But then I won’t get all those awards it give out.

Well, we got closer to four inches, but extremely heavy snow to shovel. I had to do it in three shifts. I’m getting old!

Well, Lunar New Year/Chinese New Year was spoiled by yet another mass murder in the USA. A man opened fire on a large large gathering of Asian Americans in California, killing at least ten people. :(

Time for Republicans to break out the "thoughts and prayers," as they aren't going to allow any new gun laws. In fact, Texas loosened our gun laws in the last legislative session.

Background for people outside the US. 84-percent of gun owners favor laws like Universal Background Checks. 90-percent of American voters support this law. There is also very strong support (about 65-70 percent) for Red Flag laws, which would allow police to temporarily confiscate guns from people deemed to be a potential threat to themselves or others, until a Judge in a court of law can decide if they should get them back. We know for sure that this would have stopped some past mass shootings. So, it is not the American people to blame. The NRA (gun manufacturer's lobby) makes sure to keep Republican legislators in line with the promise of a well funded primary against anyone who dares even suggest that maybe we need some sensible changes. Legislators are "graded" by the NRA for the percentage of times they vote in line with NRA objectives. Candidates in states like Texas, Florida and Arkansas brag about their scores during their campaigns. For the most part, Democrats just assume they are going to have low grades, and will never have NRA support, so they aren't under the same pressure from the NRA.

This kind of senseless killing makes the US look like a banana republic to other civilized nations.

Rant off.

Cold and rainy for the next 24 hours. We might get a little snow, but it won't last. We are at 33F/0.5C right now, so right on the border of freezing.

I've just had to bring in my tender plants yet again. We're due single figures yet again tonight.

Usually in Australia, ordinary house plants can stay out during 3 seasons of the year when the weather is normal but my tropical stuff has had to come in (curry leaf tree, green cardamom and turmeric). I've not been taking others outside such as my 10 or so orchids because they get damaged easily by the scorching sun. They need more shade that my veranda provides in the morning, so they stay in with windows open usually, but we've had to close the windows and doors as well so they and us don't get too cold. I'm only sleeping with a cotton 1 tog quilt on in bed and tbh, when it's single figures outside, with the bedroom windows open, it's barely warm enough.

Rainy yesterday and today.
