The General Chat Thread (2025)

Seems to be the word I use often to describe those around me... Typically much younger btw. 😆
I'm thinking work environment? Wait--is it to describe the cashiers at the grocery store trying to figure out how to make change when you hand them bills AND coins? Or maybe...turning on the news...or accidentally stumbling across some stupid reality show on tv? The possibilities are endless.

The whole planet qualifies?

*shudders* I just avoid all that, which means apart from repeats there's not a lot on tv. Netflix fills a lot of gaps there

DH had the remote. I was reading and posting in CB mostly, but it's hard not to hear the officers yelling, "Stop running" or "Quit resisting or I'll taze you".

I do admit I get a giggle out of, "It's not mine, officer, I don't know how that got there".

on the rare times I catch any of that stuff it seems a little formulaic ... everyone trying to stick to character for the camera ... good cop .... guy caught bang to rights acting all innocent

Made it through tonight’s storms, serious enough to warrant sitting in a closet for the worst it - strong winds, rotation (though nothing that touched down) and lots of rain and lightning. Good thing was that it was hauling ass through here with a forward speed of nearly 60mph, so it was over pretty quickly. Shook the house pretty good, though.

No hail, which is good, because my car is outside until we get the Honda gone.

Glad you weathered it ok!

About to head out at 11an when an acquaintance rang to see if I was home.
He retired last year and is struggling with his mental health. Long story short 4 hrs later he just left. Just needed someone to talk to. He was feeling better when he left.
Hes married and wife still works. Hes lonely and needed a pep talk.
I feel good about him so organic shop can wait til tomorrow.
Decided to roast some veges to have with chicken schnitzel.
