The General Chat Thread (2025)

I just ordered some cushions for the wooden chairs outside.
As the cushions take up to 7 working days for home delivery I chose the 'deliver to the post office' option which apparently means I can have them tomorrow.

Or does it, cos I just looked up where the post office is and the google reviews for the PO are terrible. Really terrible.
They say due to it's short opening hours (08.30-14.30) the queues go down the street, you'll wait for an hour to get served, the staff are thieves and you'll never get your parcels, the are unhelpful and if you post something from there don't be surprised if it gets returned and finally "Just use a different post office, this farcical PO is diabolical, you have been warned!"

So yer, will I be getting a cushie for my tushie or will numb bum continue to reign supreme 😂

Yep, you're going to need a slushy machine outside...

I'm sitting at my desk, that is really in the kitchen, looking around the house and thinking to myself:
Ya know, isn't it funny how when you have company over, the house miraculously is tidy and clean. Things are put away, counter-tops are sparkling, the cook-top has been wiped down, papers on your desk disappeared, the kitchen/dining table is void of debris and is replaced with clean linens.
AMAZING, isn't it?

That's how good the food is there, I am jealous! No worries, you'll lose it quickly on the Cork diet, yes?
Haha, luckily I am far away from the culinary temptations in Italy, yet I have to say that the food in Cork is not bad at all. I also walk far more here than in Italy, that’s a good way to lose weight…

I wish I lived in a more walkable city. Even in the spring and summer it's not great in my area because there are no sidewalks in my neighborhood, but about 6 months out of the year we could have snow and/or ice so even walks in the park aren't great. For me, anyway.

I really should have been born over the pond, for so many reasons!

As you can tell, nothing much exciting happens here
Having been tortured by works computers that were well over 10 years old, that had to be powered up a good 40mins before you wanted to use them, that required precision handling to make work (don't mess up a password entry, don't ever press the back button, don't click too early, too late, definitely don't accidentally double click and don't get me started on trying to print something) I completely understand the thrill of getting functioning equipment

Plus I love a bit of new tech!

We need to keep up to date so changes have to be made which is good otherwise things get stale.
