That would be me alsoWhen in NOLA, ACME oyster house was always a must for Craig. At the bar, with beer, and oysters as fast as they could shock them almost.

I love that place! I have been there many, many times (where I lived in the Florida panhandle we were only 4 hours away and I went there several times a year)...yes, definitely a must. Those grilled oysters are ahmaaaazing. When in NOLA, ACME oyster house was always a must for Craig. At the bar, with beer, and oysters as fast as they could shock them almost.
It was mostly the raw ones I was talking about. When I bake them with toppings I add just enough heat to pasteurize them. At my age I need to be careful with my liver. When I was in my 20s and 30s I had the constitution of an ox but at 62 I am not taking any chances. Now in NZ I believe that the waters are much cleaner than what we have here and it's not getting any better.I'll eat them anyway they come but yes, the beds aren't that good anymore and the size is small.

Yeah I haven't been to NZ but if I do ever get there, I think Russ can show me where to buy the best.New Zealand! Feel you on the raw ones. Don't recall how long ago that's been. For Turkey day we make an otster / chayote squash dressing so I get NOLA oysters once a year!
I am not certain what the exchange rate is for US to NZ at the moment. That's not an unreasonable price for *good* meat. More than I'll ever spend but then I'm on a SS income. I'm thankful.
Always works out.
I don't know if I have ever had blue cod or not but I am sure I would like it!The sea around bluff are deep blue and fresh.. blue cod from down south is some of the best in the world imho. The best whitebait is from the south. Paringa. I get approx 10 kgs a year.
Blue cod is expensive but worth every cent. When I cook for friends on a Saturday (6 people) the fish cost $75.

Well but of course I love fish! I grew up fishing with my dad and we always ate what we caught. Later I became scuba certified and I learned how to spearfish as well. I love regular beer battered cod so I'm positive I'd like blue cod as well.If you like fish you would love blue cod in beer batter.
