What’s going on in your garden (2025)?

I would mix perlite, soil & compost.
The perlite should keep the structure "open".
No real need for gravel, no harm either
Thanks. That’s what I intend to do 👍
I have ordered a bit of gravel cos the rectangular planters only have one hole in the centre and I’m in the habit of over watering everything 😬
The hanging baskets have no holes in them but I’ll have to deal with that before I use them 🔨

I also ordered fleece ‘jackets’ for the tree, a watering lance for the baskets and Castile soap.
I’ve now spent a fair whack on this stuff so the blinkin plants better survive 😂

I'm $48 in on my seeds and out of the 60 I tried germinating I've got 30 plants. 😆 That's $1.60/plant opposed to $5/plant at the nursery with theoretical food in the works later! 👍

Decided to get rid of my current wood pile location since it's ripe for wasp nests, rats, and snakes. Had a bunch of boxes leftover from last years cardboard run too so I combined them both to hack out another 100 ft^2 of gardening area. I'll let all that sit until August and then cover it with painters plastic and let it cook for a month. When the rains come in the fall take all that off and till about a dozen times, with mulch. Come spring it'll be ready for use.

What I started with.

Bit of mulch coming along as well.
