I think Miss Caviar will be happy in her new home

Nice deck!
The toms are going in planters and hanging baskets so the slugs are going to need to be fitIt helps a bit. The marigolds apparently have some chemical in them that keeps aphids at bay.
Doesn't stop ant, blackfly, sneaky birds, snails or slugs, though.![]()
It has to be French Marigolds and it doesn't really start working until after a couple of years. It's a thing the roots do in the soil. I surrounded my toms with marigolds and here's like infestation number whatever last summer.I keep reading you should plant marigolds with your tomato plants to repel aphids.
Does this work?
Like badjak says but you need insecticidal soap. Castille soap works. I bought this bottle last year at Walmart for around $15 and maybe have used half of it. Only takes about 3 or 4 pumps in a quart of water to nuke the aphids. We use marigolds mainly to keep nematodes at bay.
There are a lot of "homemade" sprays to get rid of aphids.
Just water
Water & soap
Water & vinegar
Chili concoction
I'm about to try a papaya leaf solution on the black bean aphids in my green beans. The ants farm them
Even non scented soap works (I use teepol)Like badjak says but you need insecticidal soap. Castille soap works. I bought this bottle last year at Walmart for around $15 and maybe have used half of it. Only takes about 3 or 4 pumps in a quart of water to nuke the aphids.View attachment 126359
Try on a small section of your crop first. So diluted Castile soap is the way to go?
