If he happens to be there, please tell him, I love his cookbooks.
We were told that Emeril stops in monthly and for festivals, so we missed him by 2 weeks.
We decided we all wanted fried chicken, so we got two gargantuan plates for two featuring two different kinds of fried, one crunchy and the other more of a light crunchy BBQ style. There was also an incredible truffle mac and cheese and purple cabbage slaw. I added vermouth mushrooms on the side. Again, far too much food, and totally worth the pain in my stomach.

If you're flying home, I'm afraid the airline might charge you an extra fee for excessive poundage!

I've never been to New Orleans, but both my hubby and our son have been - son once, hubby multiple times on business. A few years back, an "authentic" Cajun/Creole restaurant opened on the west side of Cleveland. How authentic can they be? Well, the chef is from N'awlin's and doesn't miss a beat.
We had to pay extra for luggage: I bought a massive mortar and pestle in Mexico that I will photograph once I get it unpacked. And, a lot of praline cookies, some of which we haven't eaten yet. I will need to work off the extra weight, but then I will get to work trying to reproduce what I ate. I've made Cajun food before, but now I see that I was slightly off in the consistency.

Wow. How was the lamb prepared? It looks like a low and slow BBQ.
Actually, that bit went a little wrong. The lamb was covered in a rub (a mix of Greek yogurt, 8 cloves of garlic, crushed :hyper:, ground nutmeg, coriander and cumin) then sealed in a baking tray with 500ml of water and 5 quartered onions. The recipe stated 200 deg C for 3 hours. This seemed totally wrong, but I've not cooked a leg of lamb in water before, so I compromised at 160 deg C (normally I would do 5 hours at 120 deg in the oven, or 24 hours in a water bath at 56 deg). It was finished off in a hot oven for 10 mins to crisp up the outside, but the inside was way too dry for my taste. I'm not sure the recipe has been properly tested. The flavour was amazing, but next time I will stick to my own cooking methods.

Right now, I have a crockpot going with pinto beans for tonight's dinner. (Hope)
In the slow cooker I have a chicken for tomorrow.

Last holiday meal was at our local pub, my husband had bangers and mash I had cheesy cauliflower and corgette pasta bake with a side of salad and garlic bread.

 that is food porn. :hungry:

I can't remember the exact order but lettuce, beef patty, ketchup, chopped red chilis, fresh tomato slice, raw onion slice, pickled dill and fried chicken egg in double layer sourdough roll.

From the weekend - I'm still playing catch up which is difficult when you are occupied full time with rescue chickens needing medical attention... anyhow we had the day out - with the proviso we had to be home before it went dark (because of the chooks!)...

Lunch was in a small café in a town south of Canberra. There's vegan/raw café where we had pumpkin soup with raw bread and followed up with a slice of 'cheesecake' each. I had the chocolate and raspberry which was disappointing. My hubby had the lime which we both much preferred. The pumpkin soup was gorgeous.
