I 'm relatively new to the forum.

Got 2 "There may be more posts after this".

What does that mean ?

@Dados1950

Good Evening.

This signifies, that more people will post on the thread ..

And you shall receive alerts on that thread.

You can write a message to @SatNavSaysStraightOn

She shall tell you where to read all the guidelines and answer any questions you have.

You can also write: @morning glory too .. As there is a time difference, as Sat lives in Australia and Morning Glory is in Kent, U.K.

Have a lovely evening.

@MypinchofItaly

I have a dear friend as I had mentioned to you in Milano. I shall get the name of the Japanese Restaurant that he took us too. It was truly amazing.

I am sure that the reason you may have been sick was, that the fish was not fresh or properly prepared for Sushi.

So sorry to hear that you were not well ..

Looks great !! I like Eggrolls. They are called Spring Rolls here in Spain....
Technically, "egg roll" and "spring roll" refer to the ingredients used to make the flour-based wrapper. SPRING rolls are made of flour and water, whereas EGG rolls also incorporate...egg. Rice flour is the usual flour for a spring roll. Before prepping to use, it's a little bit like a very thin sheet of the old wafer fish food, like a rice "Communion wafer" (although Communion wafers are wheat, and originally not even wafers) and translucent. And, I might add, a real bear to work with! The photo below is part of our back yard as seen through a spring roll wrapper:

Thank you! This clarifies things. They did look like spring rolls to me. Hence my original question.

I've known egg rolls as different from spring rolls: spring rolls are smaller than egg rolls, always contain only vegetables (compared to chicken, pork, and/or shrimp in an egg roll), and have a thinner wrapper. Essentially, they're the same thing.
Essentially, neither of them are authentic Chinese foods! :D Spring rolls are Japanese, and egg rolls are a Westernized creation of what a handy, hand-held Chinese food might be. Rather than read me blathering on about the difference, there is a very interesting article I dug up from Mental Floss. (Warning: Mental Floss is an internet rabbit hole. Be careful that you don't fall in, or you will be browsing there for a very long time...)

What's the Difference? Egg Roll vs Spring Roll

Spoiler alert: Fortune Cookies aren't authentic Chinese either...

It means just that. Its flagging the first unread post in a thread you have been following or reading and telling you there could be more afterwards. Its to save flagging up every single new post (which would drive you bonkers).

You're welcome! We have an Asian grocery store about 50 miles from our house, so we have made day trips there on occasion. However, our son lives just about 10 miles from a smaller Asian grocery store, and the people who work there are much more helpful. If our son is into Asian cooking when we visit, we grab him and go for a "let's see what strange thing we can find this time" shopping trip. Seeing as how he's been busy making kimchi near-constantly since our last trip to Ohio, I think we'll bring back a few new "souvenirs". :laugh:

Ain't Mrs. Guinne the best? (Does Homself know that his name is Mr Guinne?)
And lest we not forget Goi Cuon, or Vietnamese Spring Rolls, which aren't fried at all, just moistened.

In Australia we have "rice paper rolls" which are generally Thai - served fresh not fried, though we are seeing fried rice paper rolls starting to happen.

"Spring rolls" which are made with an egg based wheat pastry the same as was shown by TheLateNightGourmet and they have generally been Chinese or Vietnamese but you could find them in most Asian food places here now.

Size doesn't matter - small ones are just called "mini spring rolls".

I struggle to find the wrappers locally but I always buy rice paper in bulk at the Asian markets in Sydney and I could get the egg based spring roll pastry there too.

Egg rolls don't exist here & are thought to be an American terminology.

Do you mean in the alerts?
It means someone posted after you and others may have posted after that.
Welcome and what did you have to eat today?

@The Late Night Gourmet,

Egg rolls verses Spring Rolls.

Could the wrapper be different too ? Or is it Language, Usa verses UK English ?

Oh, I sent you the Esplette Pepper Photo on your Pepper Thread !!

I shall do some research and see what I find on Egg verses Spring Rolls ?

Thanks for posting the incredible Battle ship of Suishi !!! Amazing.
Not late night but here in the US, egg rolls are chubby things and spring rolls are thin things.
The wrappers are slightly different.
