What did you cook/eat today (March 2017)?

He means potatoes. Perhaps you realised that.

That is correct. Sliced potatoes in beer batter. I don't think I've ever seen sea scallops here in Nakhorn Nowhere. We are some 500 km from the sea.

We do have some tasty freshwater clams here though.

We went out to a Korean tofu joint tonight. We've been eating so much Korean food lately that I feel like test launching a rocket or two.
But, my boy's birthday is Tuesday, so it was his choice.

We shared some ban chan (small bowls of kimchi, sweet pickles, bean sprouts, and thin fish cakes).

Then had hameul pajeon (seafood, scallion, and egg pancake):

Sorry it was half eaten by the time I snapped a picture.

Then, my boy had soon du bu jigae with seafood (spicy tofu soup) and rice in hot stone bowls:

My wife had bibimbap:

And I had spicy seafood and beef soon du bu jigae with kalguksu noodles:

We washed it down with delicious bori-cha (roasted barley tea)

I'm so envious. Not sure about the barley tea though. :whistling:

No, not really like sauerkraut. The cabbage leaves are roughly chopped or even whole instead of being shredded, and while both are salty and fermented, they taste nothing alike. Kimchi is spicy and smells like old gym socks.

Looks fantastic but I'm still not convinced about the tea. Can I have Barley Wine instead?

Ok, besides roasted barley tea, there's also roasted corn tea, aka oksusu-cha.

It tastes kinda like liquid popcorn. But really, you must try them if you are a lover of tea.

Or Genmaicha, bt and morning glory. It's green tea and roasted rice and has a buttered-popcorn taste to it.

No pretty pictures of our dinner since it was a plate of Shades-of-Beige. Fried cod pieces and popcorn shrimp, coleslaw, Tater Dots (like flat Tater Tots), and semi-home-pickled beets. No tea, but a glass of red wine right now...
