What did you cook or eat today (April 2024)?

New chicken restaurant called Slim Chickens. I had a Slims Meal. Pretty sure anyone eating fried chicken tenders, French fries, and Texas toast regularly isn't going to stay slim. I ate 1 tender, 1 piece of the bread, and 6-7 fries and brought home the rest to hubby.

We have one of those down here, they seem to go head-to-head with Cane’s, which I like, but they’re pricey for chicken tenders.

That sandwich is turkey, Swiss cheese, and bacon.

So after all of the fabulous delights you've eaten what is the first thing you're thinking of eating when you get home?

I mean the first easy thing after your flight and the first thing you're thinking you might cook?
Likely to be a bacon buttie for breakfast on Saturday before we pick up the furries from the cattery, then to Sainsburys. I might do my mince and potato pie on Sunday depending on the weather.

Tons of chicken tender restaurants popping up. We have a Zaxbys, a Guthries and Huey McGoos. I think Jacks only has tenders as well. I’ve seen Canes when traveling through Louisiana but have never had it. One of my grandsons in Alaska says it’s his favorite restaurant. He is seven. Won’t eat McDonald’s. His six year old brother loves McDonald’s and won’t eat Canes. They take turns. The one that doesn’t want anything from the restaurant they go to has to find something g at home to eat.

Yeah...I enjoyed that shop, it's one of those where if the employee does what they're supposed to do they get a $25 gift card. It's too expensive for me to do if I'm not getting paid for it. I could just make my own at home easily enough.

Yesterday we were wandering around London and ended up in a place called "Wok to Walk". The concept is ingenious: multiple noodle options cooked right in front of your eyes in 7 minutes max.
If you look at the photo below, you'll see four columns. On the left is the type of noodle you want - egg noodles, udon noodles, etc. The 2nd is what you want to add; the protein, the veg, etc. Below you can choose toppings, like chopped peanuts or coriander or fried onions. Then in column 3, you choose the sauce, which might be peanut, or hot Asian, or Szechwan. So basically you build your own noodle dish. On the far right are a few classics, if you can't be bothered to build your own. 3 very ample portions cost about 15 quid a head.

That's quite cheap and I'm glad they stick to a small plate of ingredients. I couldn't stand the people who had to wager every tiny decision on their subway.
