What did you cook or eat today (April 2025)?

from the Rhineland.
yes, no, maybe - and 'it depends'
the definition/borders/edges of "Rhineland" changed many times throughout history.
Jakob Ammann (c. 1644–c. 1730) was Mennonite, but split from that, 'founding' a new sect which became 'the Amish'
the Amish communities ranged from Switzerland north to Holland, and curiously.... Russia.
they fled to America (largely) due to religious persecution; following in the foot steps of William Penn and the Quaker sect from UK.

as history wore on, the unity/division/etc has become rather complicated . . .

the three main groups - historically tagged as "plain folk" - Quakers, Mennonite, Amish
the Old Order Amish remain the most reactionary. the others have largely/semi integrated into "modern society"

I got a paid lunch today. It was all about service timings and I had to order more food than I could possibly eat so I've got dinner for later and breakfast out of the leftovers.

Fried calamari:

Chicken marsala stuffed with cheese and sundried tomatoes:

The chicken marsala was a bit too salty but still very good. The rest of the meal was delicious.

Dang that looks delicious. Calamari is one of those foods that are either great or simply ok. So if you find a place that is good. Stick to it.

I never liked calamari, thought they had the structure of rubber/elastc bands, till I got to Mozambique
I wouldn't have ordered calamari, but it was part of a fish platter.
Freshly caught, well prepared, they were absolutely delicious :)
