What did you cook or eat today (January 2022)?

Cinnabon, maybe in the mid '80's to mid '90's...that's why you went to shopping mall, to hit the food court for a Cinnabon.

I used to specify that I wanted a middle one, so soft all the way around, and I'd ask them to scrape up any of the melty goo from the tray and pour it over as well, and I'd get two extra little tubs of the cream cheese frosting to spread over.

God, I hate to think what the calories and fat count was on that, but it was about the best thing ever.

The closest one to me nowadays is about 15 minutes down the interstate, at a truck stop. I don't know why, but it just doesn't taste the same these days.
Yup. I used to be a food evaluator and that store was one on my list. I got sick of eating them. I had to order a whole box of the darned things, so I would freeze most of it. Definitely better when freshly made, but I haven't eaten one in years.

Edited to add that the Cinnabon was the stop made after hitting Sbarro, the pizza place in the food court, first

I'll add that the "Quicker Cinnamon Rolls" recipe from ATK is a very, very close approximation of a Cinnabon roll, and they're about four hours from start to finish (hence "quicker" and not "quick"), and are the ones I made Christmas morning and posted here:

It's that time of year again: Christmas 2021

If anyone wants it, let me know and I'll post up the recipe.
I kinda thought that's what you made... I have that recipe, made a coupla times, but I also have my SIL's all from scratch Sticky Cinnamon Buns recipe that are a must in our family.

I haven't made either recipe in a few years now

How many Truffles do you and Craig have med?
Two but they were both a pretty good size and 1 was almost half again bigger than the other. I've got just under half of the big 1 left and about a 3/8 inch thick piece of the other. You have to realize those slices are as thin as onion skin paper. I'll get another meal of some kind out of the bigger 1 and use what is left for butter or oil or both probably.

I have a wee pan I fry it in, on my hobs. Buttered of course.

Russ

I used to have to fry my toast. My big deal these days is finding stuff to spread on toast, - recently, apple butter and pear butter.

In the past, it was tapenade and recently, tomato conserva. And there were other things I found go good on toast, including peanut butter. BLT (Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches are top rated too.
