I don't think I posted last night's evening meal.

A baked, spiced chickpea and rice casserole (room for improvements), a single slice of vegie delights roast, a portion of snowpeas and a serving of raita.

It had improved on the previous night and was better with a generous squeeze of lime juice but it could be nicer. I'll have to 'do my thing' with the recipe! Lol

I just used garlic butter, sliced tomatoes and cheese. I used to slap some big old anchovies on top but I’m afraid to eat them since having a gout attack last year. They are one of the top foods to avoid. I miss them.

But…I haven’t had any reoccurring flare ups since my first and only time so I have been eyeing up the cans at work.

Maybe you need to join AA... Anchovies Anonymous.

Here in Europe smarties are colored chocolate buttons, I imagine also where LissaC lives because I ate my first smarties in Portugal sa a 3 year old
Yes! I mean European smarties, which in the US I believe are known as chocolate M&Ms.

I think I've told this story before, but years ago I had an issue with a former american boss, I asked him to bring me smarties from the airport (I love smarties and airports usually sell these super fun smartie boxes that have really funky shapes and come with cute prizes), and he bought me american smarties!!!!:( Which I absolutely hate! I bought him "proper" smarties and he said they were chocolate M&Ms!

The way I like to eat these smarties is to group them by color, and then I eat each color separately. The different colors also taste different to me. Brown is my least favorite, because it tastes stronger, a bit like cocoa. Yellow tastes brighter and lighter and is one of my favorites.

Hey my least favorite is brown too! Though my favorite is the purple one like on the picture 😄

I think I've told this story before,
Here’s my Smarties/M&M story:

We’d just moved to the UK and rented a house (early November), and in my excitement to embrace all things British, I made a big batch of cookies, like chocolate chip ones, but with M&Ms in them (and they were M&Ms, from the American commissary).

I took them into the estate agents’, where these two wonderful sort of batty older women worked (I grew to love them over time and missed them considerably when we moved) - if anyone is family with the “wobbly, randy ladies” characters from the old Harry Enfield show, they were like that (minus some, but not all, of the randiness).

“Hi, um, good morning, Margaret. MrsT and I wanted to give you these for Boxing Day, just to say thanks for helping us with the house.”

“Mr. Tasty! How wonderful! Barbara <shouting>! Barbara! Come out front! It’s that lovely Mr. Tasty and he’s brought us a treat!”

“Who?!”

“Mr. Tasty! From the house on Brackett’s Close! The American!”

<Barbara putters out from the back>

“Oh, Mr. Tasty! How nice to see you! How are you and-“

“-His lovely bride! Ask how she is! Mustn’t forget her!”

“I was just about to, Margaret, you never let me fin-“

“You really must get to the point, though, Barbara. You never do! She never does! He’s brought us these!”

<Barbara peers into the opened box>

“They’re cookies for you, for Boxing Day. Just wanted to say thanks for all your help so far.”

<They each try one, with gusto>

“Oh! Oh! These are lovely! Just lovely! They’ve got something in them, Barbara!”

“Yeah, instead of chocolate chips, I put in M&Ms.”

<Margaret and Barbara, in unison>

“Oh no, I’m afraid they’re Smarties, dear! Smarties!”
