What did you cook or eat today (January 2025)

Tovala cheese tortellini and sausage ragu.

The weird shaped coffee coloured things are the pecans, they were very nice!
I made the mistake of looking at the calories in something similar that my OH brought home from work before Christmas and couldn't believe how many calories were in 1 serving and how many servings were apparently in a bag (5). That made a serving 3 chocolate covered almonds and 110 calories per serving!

Oh yep, those are the same.

100g of those is over a quarter of the RDA for a woman.

Lunch was smoked cashew cheese on eye sourdough with chutney

Evening meal was stunningly full of flavour. Freshly picked homegrown oyster mushrooms with onions fried in sunflower oil and with a dairy free sour cream served on a brioche roll

All brown but so very tasty.

Honestly it’s not something that concerns me, I don’t calorie count.
As nutrition was a huge part of patient education for so many patients I’m painfully aware of what the nutritional content n likely ingredients are in most foods. I have a suspicion you do too!
So I knew before I even bought them that a bag of pecans covered in chocolate isn’t a healthy choice, that they would be very high in fat, saturated fat and sugar.

But I allow myself unhealthy treats when I fancy them, tbh I’m surprised that the whole bag is only 595kcals 😂
I’ll defo be buying them again, although it’ll probably be the dark chocolate coated almonds next time 😋

I'm back on calorie counting on Monday along with the 4 times a weekday exercise not counting getting the post (1km walk just for that). I need my back to settle again and get a little weight off

You gotta do whatever works for you to stay in optimal heath, I applaud you for it, wish everyone cared about themselves a little bit more.

Personally I really need to get back to exercising, I miss being really fit and with dementia running in the family exercise is past important, it’s essential. Going to have to ease back into though, the days when I could attack something at my fiercest, be a little sore for a couple of days and then carry on are long gone, just a shame my mind hasn’t got the memo 😂

I’ve noticed though when I do yoga I naturally start eating more healthily which is a bonus.

Edit: Sorry of topic, I’ll stop now promise!
