I think the diet is affecting me mentally. I have made a ledge to my friends I'm not going to cut my hair till my 70th in Jan. Also I will grow my three day old goatee till I can tie a ribbon in the chin bit. I have done this all before when younger. I still have the gypsy hoop ear ring. In a month I will take the stud out and replace it with the hoop. I gave my brother my bar hopper when we came over here.View attachment 43745

Is "Urfa" chilli flakes a common thing in UK? I am surprised to see the name :)

Maybe not common but fairly easy to get in the Turkish grocers around here. At least, I think they are Turkish - they also sell all sorts of Eastern European food. I love the smokey taste of Urfa chilli flakes.

Finto Pesce. I don’t know how to call this in English, maybe “fake fish”?
Anyway, it’s made with mashed potatoes, tinned tuna, capers, mayo (well, I actually put mustard) and a bit of leftover ricotta, then shaped fish like

This is so cool! Going to make that too sometime

The old ways of raising veal are just about gone. It has been mostly outlawed in the US, and many other countries.

The "rose veal" BB referred to is veal raised by modern standards. Because it is not deprived of nutrients and mobility (crates), the meat color is pink, instead of the pale white color of crate veal.

Just like lamb is young sheep, and cabrito is young goat, veal is young cow. That, in itself is not cruel to me, but it may be to others. It's a personal matter.

As with ANY meat you buy (especially chickens, these days), you need to do a little homework. You have to ask your meat vender some questions. If they can't answer them, move along.

CD
They still do it in Ohio. I see those little houses on some farms not far from where I live.

My nephew once asked me what movie star he looked like (he had a particular one in mind) and I thought about it a second and then said, "John Hannah, you know, that guy in 'The Mummy,' but not the star, the other guy."

He didn't talk to me for a month!
