Home alone, and working on a challenge entry. During a pause between stages I knocked up a smoked mackerel quiche using up some bits from the fridge. It's currently cooling, and the aroma is driving me mad!

'knocked up'? That's impressive for an impromptu dish.

The pastry was shop bought remnants, the mackerel was ready smoked, just added a beaten egg, milk, mustard and grated Parmesan.

That is so strange. I asked my wife to buy a couple of cucumbers on Monday with a view to making smoked salmon open sandwiches.

Today starts with leftover squid (the portion not used in the miso challenge) simmered up and topped with Chinese dumpling sauce and a splash of hot sesame oil. With a little coffee on the side.
