This was the specials board where I had my pizza.

I learn something new every day on here!

Not even a clue.!
Do they not have hamburger steak in other countries? I know my mom used to serve it (with the gravy) and mashed potatoes with a side of peas. She would just form the mince from ground sirloin or ground round. We couldn't afford (6 kids) to have ribeye and filet mignon growing up.

DH didn't like his sirloin steak much the other night when we went out to Carrabba's. He said that flavor was good but it wasn't tender like he is used to. I have spoiled him over the years and I buy filet mignon or ribeyes (the occasional T-bone or porterhouse as well). I told him I could fix it into some sort of breakfast.

This morning I chopped it up and cooked it down with peppers, onions, mushrooms, soy sauce, and some cream, then folded in a bit of Havarti when the steak got tender. I had some leftover mashed potatoes in there and made crispy potato pancakes with them, topped them with a slice of American cheese, the steak mixture, and two runny eggs. He was quite happy!

So I went to the supermarket and found some wonderfully fresh Swiss Chard. I bought two packets of it, then decided I was going to make something vaguely Greek, because I remember eating a delicious pastry (in a Greek Bakery in Maidstone) with chard and leeks.
Off to get some leeks.
Might as well get some parsley and cucumber while I'm at it, plus a packet of Feta.
$50 lighter, I got back home, partially defrosted a packet of phyllo pastry and put the "pie"together. Have to say it worked out rather well!
