What did you cook or eat today (March 2024)?

We had to drive to Miami for an errand so stopped at a place we go to once in a while because they make Ollie Burgers. Craig loves them and I most certainly do not, so I'm not fond of cooking them at home and having to then eat 1. He got his Ollie burger fix and I had a blue cheese burger. Pugs got several bites of mine that I brought home wrapped up in a napkin.

What's an Ollie burger?

I made half of a big Wok full of Fried Saimin or Fried Noodles, a favorite in Hawaii.
I loaded this batch down with tons of "goodies", ie homemade Char Siu, crispy Spam®, Kamaboko (fish cake), Carrots, Green Cabbage, Mung Bean Sprouts and Green Onions, YUM!!!!

I also grilled some Teriyaki B/S Chicken Thighs and made my Quick Cucumber Kim Chee (or kimchi, whatever) to go along with.

I had so much of everything leftover, that I made up a plate for my Mother too and took that over to her place this afternoon.

MrsT was on a zoom call, so I had to be quiet, so that meant canned soup and BLT’s for supper (minus the L and the T, because that’s how I ate them growing up, and I still prefer just gobs of mayonnaise, bacon, and one piece of folded-over bread).

I'd throw in some turkey and cheese, too. And avocado (I know, I know).

…and we still have an Ollie’s Trolley in Cincy, but I don’t think it’s associated with the original chain.

So we've tried another accidentally vegan, traditional Spanish soup made with stale bread, loads of tomatoes, 1 red pepper, olive oil and raw garlic and it's delicious even if I did only use a quarter of the olive oil the recipe suggested.

I served it with tofu croutons.
