Would that be Trappist beer, or weissbier?
I´m intrigued because I´m trying to put together a Food Course called " Cooking with Beer", and that dish looks great.
Trappist is just one of the many types of Belgian beer. Weissbier is German by origin.

I used a kriekbier ( cherry beer) which is beer ripened on cherry wood wine barrels. In this case the beer used is Bacchus , a semi sweet dark kriekbier. On the website it seems like their kriekbier is quite red, but their dark beer is also ripened on the same barrels and with that technically a kriek too. I used the dark variety.

Grey everywhere so not even good natural light for a pic but it's all I got today

Made an Asian menu for my mother's birthday.
Grated kohlrabi, marinated in vinegar, garlic oil, mustard and sugar. Dressing was tahini, unripe grape juice and curry dip.

It was a nice day.
That meal looks spectacular! Happy birthday to your mom.

Was busy yesterday but here's what I ate:

Belgian beer beef stew with fries.
Wonderful! I made a Belgian beef stew like that a long time ago, and I think you just prompted me to make it again, before it gets too hot out.

Great!
I´ve tried a kriekbier and thought it was ´orrible, but then I don´t like my beer to taste of anything other than beer. Cherries, coffee, citrus peel - yuk. I´d never thought of using it to cook, however. I´ll have to give it a try.

I must say, I am the same about drinking the stuff, and I too have never tried to cook with it. Might be a game changer.

It's a ripened in a cherry wood wine barrel, not with cherries. It tastes like a mix between wine and beer.

I rather like kriekbier. It depends on who makes it, as with all beers. It is a beer I would drink in the Autumn or winter.
