We went out for dinner at Lizz, a one star restaurant in Gouda. To be honest, it wasn't quite as good as expected. There were a lot of unbalanced flavors and as the sommelier said, the chef likes ' experimenting ' just not in a good way. Our table of four was unanimous on that. Of course we are aware that taste is subjective and we probably just disagree with the reviewer.
However, what is universal bad practice is to add things to the Bill that were not disclosed prior to the dinner commencing. We paid 40 euros extra for ' bread and water' and that was one measly muffin shaped roll a head and one bottle of water for the whole table.
Plus there was an extra fee for the fish we got at the main, of another 25 euro a head.
My dad paid and was cortial about it, but we won't go back. With that said, here are pics of the food.

This inedible piece was on the table the whole time, just why? Gordon Ramsay called and said inedible garnishes belong in the 70s.

For an amuse we had unpictured pineapple with olive tapenade ( ??) and these cheese crackers with Gouda cheese cream, algae and mustard seeds( ??) on a pillow and without plates or utensils so my husbands suit now needs dry cleaning before saturday when we go to Parkheuvel ( a proper 2 star restaurant).

Unripe avocado, soy sauce, cheese cream, smoked mackerel & citrus with bitter greens. Flavors did not match, it was bitter, salty and sour.

The one measly roll we got per person and the far too dramatically presented butter

Part two, of where not to go in Gouda. As you all know, I am rarely negative about a restaurant. But for one star, this really doesn't match the price paid. ( 440 euro!)

The sides from our main which were only given to me and my husband. My father and his wife got nothing and had to pay another supplement to receive, as you can see, three fries a person!

Fresh halibut which was done well but served with a gigantic bone ( the entire right most piece) which was of course inedible. Served with spinach with crumbled bacon AND sea salt ( ??)

The dessert was the only impressive dish. You would think it's a pear but it's actually dark chocolate with a five spice mousse filling and a yuzu center. Really nice.

All in all, very dissapointing for the price. And the service wasn't great either.

We're not going back 🙄

Is the tempeh coming to feature in the challenge?
I've never prepared it on the bbq (yet)
The flavour was BBQ flavour but there's no reason why it couldn't be cooked on one as well. I used the airfryer....

Edit: and yes, it can do but it will take me a day or two. Uni restarts tomorrow.

I asked as I thought it may come out dry on the bbq.
I always forget that bbq apparently also is a flavour.
It always surprises me to see something like bbq ribs made in a crock pot or so :scratchhead::scratchhead:

It's cold and wet here in Cowboyville Arizona USA.
This calls for soup!
I found this a little bit back and have been wanting to try this.
Normally, I don't buy canned soups, they have an off-putting after-taste to me...

As I was warming the soup through, it seemed to me that it needed more "goodies".
So I found the last of my Southwest Blend and added about a 1/4 cup of it.
AH YUM!!!
Even DH liked it... did you make this?
No, it's from a can I found at Wally World.
WHAT? You never buy canned soups, you make your own. Don't you have any?
I do, but I'm hungry and don't want to wait for it to de-frost.

Craig had a Tovala burrito with pork carnitas, chihuahua cheese, black beans and rice, with condiments of chipotle salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. I tried little bites, as I was putting it together, and thought it was good, so did he. The burrito was over filled and hard for him to manage. Next time, I'll either have more tortillas on hand or serve the black beans and rice separately, instead of as part of the burrito.

I'm having frozen chicken Kiev from the grocery and part of a Knorr pasta side packet.

Somehow I managed to buy an uneven number of Tovala meals, so I scrounged in the freezer.
