What did you cook or eat today (November 2024)

Baked potato...
I was going to make garlic yoghurt & bacon to go with it, but couldn't find the bacon (I think the freezer ate it)
So instead, with beef & red wine stew
This would also have given me a chance to change the pic at my challenge entry, but the phone refused.
Not enough power to use the flash
This was the best I could come up with

Very very tasty

So far today: Poachers Relish and salad cream sandwich and some yoghurt with honey. That was lunch. Tonight it is likely to be bacon and egg. I am on my own so not really cooking. Reminder to self that I need vegetables in my diet soon.

Very very tasty
My freezer eats my food all the time too!

Had some beetroot left over after making cheddar and beetroot sarnies and beetroot, potato & egg salad. Sweet/sour beetroot and tomato masala, with tamarind and fresh chiles. Then I made something called achari paneer - basically, a paneer (Indian cheese) curry made with typical pickling spices (mustard seeds, fennel seeds, nigella seeds, etc) , green chiles and a splash of yoghurt. Really, really surprising and very tasty.
Rummaging in the fridge (and the kitchen cupboard) I found about 1.5 kgs of tamarind, so I also made a few jars of tamarind (Imli) chutney. Great for samosas and pakoras .

DH & I went over to my Mother's Senior Living Community to have Thanksgiving lunch with her, my Neighborhood Gal Pal and her Mom, who's friends with my Mom by the way.
Very disappointing!
In the past the holiday buffets that they put out have been excellent, not so today!
I do look a good Turkey feast... oh well, I suppose I'll just have to make my own at home, soon.

Hot dog with chili for brunch prior to Thanksgiving meal. Rest of my family are big beef eaters so this is a "thing" for them. I mostly eat fish and fowl so no big deal. I don't find beef that appealing health or cost wise.

Our grandson has his birthday soon.
I asked him what he wants
Entree: samosas
Main ; butter chicken
Dessert : pancakes

They love samosas and tamarind chutney and rhaita.

Thanksgiving dinner: 12 o'clock—Brussels sprouts, cranberry relish, carrots, mashed turnip and yellow potatoes, sweet potato casserole with praline topping, turkey, sautéed mushrooms, stuffing, pan gravy, and a dinner roll. Riesling and sparkling apple-cranberry cider to drink.
