What did you cook or eat today (October 2022)?

I don't know if this is general with the US or not, but my American coworkers find it really weird/disgusting to have food with eyes (like whole fish, or whole shrimp).

I am a Brit and to be honest it doesn't bother me, at least that way I can be sure of exactly what is on my plate

Last night's meal was an easy meal.
Asparagus, green beans (organic ones and so tasty!) with protein pasta and a dairy free tomato pesto.

(Apologies for the lack of depth of field, I can't control it on the smartphone.)

Thought I’d give an internet recipe a try and had some left over thawed, frozen spinach in the fridge. Chicken spinach meatballs going in. Romano cheese, garlic herbs, etc. It says to brush the meatballs with tomato paste and olive oil. And bake them. I used some Marinara that I made to go with the spaghetti we’re having with it.

I’ll keep you posted.

That's like my grandma, shes hardcore, she can eat sardines right out of the can without flinching.

There was a guy Craig would often see at a convenience store he would stop at frequently that would sit on the curb and have sardines in mustard sauce with angel food cake...

Husband signed us up for Hello Fresh. Since I’m still unlikely to be doing much cooking in the near future, he wanted to sign up. He likes cooking but dislikes grocery shopping, and he’s also been making the same things over and over lately (I am so tired of burgers). He thought this would get him out of the rut a bit, and he likes the idea of having to just cook without having to think.

Tonight was shrimp with corn, red onion and peppers, with roasted potato wedges. He burnt the potatoes a bit but other than that it was quite good.

Not that many years ago in Taiwan the fish would be cooked with aluminium foil around the head to keep the brain "alive" and then in the fish head soup, the eyes would be still moving. I don't know what was used before foil and the process has been outlawed now.

So I was told by a Chinaman.
