What did you cook today (April 2021)?

For breakfast, I had intended to do toasted garlic bread, eggs, bacon and a banana, but my bread was all moldy, so I had to settle for eggs, bacon and a banana.

My meal for today is absolutely and fabulously delicious.

I made a dish sopressata pizza pie, which is similar to a deep dish pizza, but made in a baking dish and not a bread pan.

I am proud of the dough which is nice and spongy soft and flavorful, and the sauce just is an absolute flavor marvel.

The recipe link is above.

I'm betting Yorky used vinegar in place of the pear/apple, as they are used partly for the tenderizing enzyme they contain. I've seen recipes that used just vinegar and can see where there would be a strong vinegar taste.
A really good substitute for Korean pear apparently is kiwi fruit. It contains a similiar enzyme that tenderizes the beef, and the taste profile is reasonably similiar to Korean pear. I couldn't imagine it with a vinegar flavour, despite as you say some recipes recommending using it as a substitute.

I did a video a little while back making bulgogi, and was lucky as I think I sourced the last Korean pear left in town. But I was fully prepared to try the kiwi fruit option instead if I'd had to.

Late night dinner, it is 10.48 pm, got home half an hour ago. I had Superpower stew thaw since yesterday, in the fridge, reheated, added chilli flakes, Cheddar slices on the side, very good.

Next time I buy a fridge, it will be with a bigger freeze section. But even these two shelves are very, very helpful.👏🤹

Funny detail, in the tram, a chap who sat nearby, had Frog kraaacke-krAACKe sound for his incoming texts.😄😂 I had to think about our frog eating thread for a moment, and try to guess would he eat frog or not, or has other reasons for the choice.

It had gotten so cold again by evening, was happy to be in a warmer tram. Something was off withe trains, waited 35 min in the cold windy ah.

All good👍🍀

I've never made it but ate it a lot when the restaurant was open. Unfortunately she made it with Thai beef so although it was thinly sliced it was still a bit tough.

If I make a tom yam it's with freshwater prawns and chicken (tom yam khung gai).

When I was building our house we were temporarily living in a terraced house about 100 metres away and the kitchen was somewhat lacking so we ate (and drank) out most of the time. As the restaurant was opposite the new build it was very convenient for lunch.

The restaurant was also a bit "out of the way" from the main town albeit well known. I regularly came across Thai's that I knew from town lunching with their mia noys (second wives).

Second wives?? I can barely keep up with one!!

Russers mate do you own a firearm. If I lived near you....... :okay:

Lol, used to hunt with a .308 many years ago, grandkids would kill me if they only knew. When fishing with grandkids years ago, miss 8 at the time caught a fish, I cut its head off, she screamed the wharf down and called me a killer. Didn't speak to me rest of the day. I'm not going there again.

I'm pretty certain you are right about kiwi fruit. I've never done it but have heard of it.

I think that every meat eater should, at some point in life, dispatch an animal. I used to be a hunter, mostly ducks. It gives you an appreciation for how the meat got on your plate. Somebody had to kill and animal.

(BTW, sorry Duck59, but being in Texas, I don't think I hunted any of your relatives).
