What did you eat or cook today (December 2024)?

Reminds me of a story - where I’m from “thongs” has always meant those flimsy slip-on sandals, made of some kind of foam rubber stuff and plastic, super cheap.

Most places, however, the word means that dental floss-style undergarment that leaves your bottom completely uncovered.

When we lived in Minnesota, we watched a particular local news station, and one night, they welcomed a new evening co-anchor. News program went swimmingly, no issues, and she was pleasant enough.

They’d gotten to the end, where they frequently do the little chatty, ad-libbed bit, and as the weather was predicted to be warm and sunny, New Anchor off-handedly remarked, “Yeah, I’ll be out all weekend, just wearing my thongs.”

All the other newscasters looked at her and started giggling, and she quickly figured out the dual meaning, and shouted, “My flops! My flip-flops! Sandals!”

Looked her up…she was originally from Ohio.
Yeah, I am from Florida originally (as many of you know already) and for a long time thongs only meant the flip flops. People weren't wearing thong underwear and thong bikinis back in the 90's. Well at least not in the panhandle of NW Florida!

I’m not a Gorgonzola seeker, but those look magnificent.
How about

HOT HONEY WINGS

Dinner - Livia Bar & Grill

The restaurant was featured recently on the entertainment clip of a local news show. The chef made "dirty macaroni," which is a fancy mushroom pasta dish. It looked really good so I went to copy the recipe from the news site. Either the chef didn't give them all the steps/ingredients or somebody messed up when transcribing, but I was able to fill in the blanks by watching the video.

We'd like to go to the restaurant, but it's a little further than I like to drive at night now so will have to wait until days are longer again.

Out to lunch/brunch after we got the dollhouse. We hadn't been to this place for a while. Craig had a cheesesteak sub. I had a cinnamon bun, knife on plate for size reference, and a side of sausage. I asked for the icing on the side because they literally slather it on and it is just too much. We each ate half and brought rest home. Craig did order a cinnamon bun to go for dessert later.

It all looks really good, but if I were Craig, I would have issue with those pale fries.
