Yeah, I have never seen them at any regular grocery stores and never thought to look for them at the Asian market. And I don't know what I would do with them if I had them! I suppose I would have to research some Asian cuisines recipes to find something that sounds good!

Our favorite sides are the ever present steamed White Rice, Lomi Lomi Salmon (search Hawaiian Cuisine), Shoyu Ahi Poke, my Quick Cucumber Kim Chee (or kimchi, whatever) and Kamaboko aka Japanese steamed Fish Cake.

I was asking about kaffir limes, do they use those at a luau? I didn't see it in your recipe?

Lychee are a real big thing in Hawaii.
Folks who have trees in their yards guard them like it were gold!

On one of trips back home I was in the supermarket and they had them for sale, never saw that before.

Salak fruit?
I had to look that one up ... also known as Snake Fruit ... interesting. I was thinking that because it does look so similar to Lychee if in fact it tastes like it as well and I find it does not.
