To make you, and all other forum members smile. Here are some literal translations of some Dutch sayings about food that make no sense at all in English. I will leave it up to the reader to guess their meaning!

Going with the banana
Alas peanutbutter
Monkey cabbage
That slaps like a tong on a pig
Dairy on dairy is the work of the devil
The bean comes for it's payment
It doesn't butter between them
One's death is the others bread
Hunger sweetens raw beans
That's mustard after the meal
When the wine is in the man the wisdom's in the can
Passing the hot potato
It comes for the baker

I love those! I’m rolling some of those into my everyday speech, just to confuse people. :laugh:

I must dig up some Venezuelan sayings . Something like " he's like a pineapple under your arm" or " coriander's good, but not sooo good"
