Oh... OK.I thought dogs could see a sort of yellow but it was red that was the problem colour. 🤷♀️
I'm pretty sure that dog's can't see red and green, so can't distinguish between red or green lights. They can actually see yellow (& blue), so the explanation is almost the opposite. Top and bottom lights would not be red or green, so potentially can't tell the difference between the two.
Dogs don't have the red or green cones in the retina. They can see yellow, orange will look yellow, pink will look I guess white?
You all are overthinking the colorblind dogs.

We had the granddaughter last night.
It's not specifically a German cemetery, just a cemetery filled with people who came here from Germany. It was interesting to see the family plots and trace where the stones went from German to English and where the spellings of the surnames became more and more Americanized.
