It's why most people have wheelie bins here even if you then have to cart the bin off to the tip yourself. That and foxes.Yesterday was trash day at my sister's house. I walked outside, and there were huge black birds, perhaps buzzards, tearing her next door neighbor's trash apart. Seriously, the birds were bigger than Psycho Poodle was... by a few pounds.
Anyway. I ran them off, and put the bags in my sister's trash cart. I talked to him last evening, and he said he could see the birds on his web camera, but couldn't do anything about them at work. He also saw me chasing them away, and thanked me for putting the bags in my sister's trash cart.

Not all of us get a refuse collection and if you don't, you get a tip pass, so it is very common to see vehicles with wheelie bins in a trailer it the back of a ute on a Sunday (only day that our tip is open).
It also goes without saying really that we have a large number of other black bins & lids that act as storage for the chook food (1 for each if there feeds: dried corn, black sunflower seeds, unmedicated chick starter, showbird pellets and there free range scratch mix). These have so far stood up to the mice and swamp rats (the teddy bear of rats) that we get on the farm.
