My wife will buy the "close to sell by date" meat/offal from the supermarket or get given left overs from the market. She also buys standard dog biscuits and the odd snack from the pet shop.

And rice. They get rice every day (as do most kept dogs around here). Chinese rice, not Jasmine rice.

Meat and rice is actually very healthy for dogs. I've always made some ground beef and rice for my dogs from time to time, as a special supper. They practically inhale it. As TR said, it is also good when they are having some "abdominal distress."

BTW, I buy a lot of meat from the "just about at the sell by date" section. Well, I did. That section is usually empty since the Covid pandemic.

I call them "Fuzzy Dog" and "Brown Dog". My wife calls them "Full" (which in Thai means "big hair") and "Tan" (which in Thai means "brown").
I had a coworker from India, and he saw a pic of my dog on my desk. He mentioned that culturally, Indians didn't really like having dogs as pets, that dogs were more of a pest than a friend, but when he was a kid, he did have a pet dog, bucking the norm.

"That's really interesting! What was your dog's name?"

He looked at me with a really puzzled expression and said, "Dog."

What a dramatic yellow - I'm thinking that is from added annatto though... can any butter naturally be that colour?

I think there is a story behind Sark and butter:

Meet Sark’s new dairy farmers | ITV News

I've always been told that it is due to the high level of beta-carotene in Guernsey milk. There is some genetic reason that a Guernsey has high levels of beta-carotene in its milk. They are also lovely docile creatures by and large and slightly inquisitive.

Guernsey butter (the real stuff) is also quite yellow.

Sark butter is also a bit salty, not unpleasantly so, but still saltier than a lot of other butters.

Our butter is not as yellow as yours. Some people in other countries take that as 'inferior." But, it is not. I buy premium butter. It tastes great. It is not as yellow as butter in some countries. The cows graze in pastures, but the grasses must be different. The grasses they eat are what grows here, naturally.

Lambs here are pasture fed. But, the meat tastes different than Australian lamb. I actually like American lamb better. It is not gamey at all, but still full of flavor. They just eat different grass.

I haven't tried their butter, but I get low-heat pasteurized heavy cream from a local dairy, and it's very, very yellow. Almost gold.

Forgot to post what I had today from the supermarket
