It’s that time of year again. We are having days of rain & days of sun. Perfect mushroom growing weather.

Not here we're not. Widespread snow today and 0-2°C all day!

Did you pick any? I haven't gone foraging for mushrooms since we moved out to Australia. In the UK I was happy I could identify some of the edible ones, but I'm not so certain here.

We do have native edibles but mostly everyone forages the European mushrooms that came with the trees.

South Australia & Victoria are having a good porcini season.

I only know a few varieties & saffron milk caps are prolific & we are surrounded by pine plantations here in Lithgow.

And today was same weather as yours but yesterday was glorious. The 5th sunny day in a row after torrential rain all last weekend.

I used to pick wild shrooms from open paddocks about a 10 min bike ride. Big field ones. We used to sell to our local dairy. It was my pocket money for a few months every year. It's all housing now.

This arrived in the post as a thankyou for arranging a trip.

Hand blown glass bottle and tumblers. Very pretty and much appreciated.

I think this bottle‘s a keeper.
I can see Sloe Gin going in there when the Sloes show there berry faces again!

Looks like matching bottle and glasses. Definite a keep. I would just have to find someone to drink the gin.

Me too. Last time I drank gin was probably 1982. We went to a notable Italian restaurant in Caracas and I ordered a gin martini, or something like that. I was totally, utterly intoxicated before I even finished it. The bottle had been spiked.

This is what google says about them-

“Traditionally used in south-east Asian and Indian cooking, it can be used in a variety of ways. Our favourites are in salads, stir-fries, curries, tacos and crumbed for fish and chips. Banana blossom can be eaten raw or cooked.”
