What produce/ingredients did you buy or obtain today (2025)?

I suppose I’ll make some hummus tomorrow. Not my favorite thing, but MrsT loves it.

All that talk of Spanish (style) chorizo, I had to buy some.

MrsT also likes that skinny broccolini stuff, whatever it is. I’d rather just have adult broccoli.

Pringles were buy-one-get-one, so I did.

And I even bought a nifty shirt. I’ve been reduced to clothes shopping at the grocery store. What next? Shoes from the gas station convenience store?

Seems sensible for fuel stations to sell shoes, I mean what are all those random shoes you see on the side of the carriageway? There must be loads of drivers out there with one shoeless foot 😂

While driving a taxi in Las Vegas I picked this woman up from the Tropicana Hotel, no shoes and really drunk, for a lift to the airport. Convention over and back to Ohio. I told her they won't let her on the plane with no shoes and she became really distraught; company was paying for the flight. I stopped at the last gas station before McCarren Airport and bought her some flip flops. She was so happy she cried!

Funny isn’t it that bare footed is unacceptable but flip flops which cause a lot of injuries are just fine 😂

Today's purchases 090225.jpg

The wife is currently on another crazy diet. She's come to the conclusion that ordinary milk is upsetting her stomach, so almond milk is now on the menu.
I've got an Indian Food Course on Friday and the host told me to bring some of my chutneys, so I bought tamarind and beetroot - in the bag. Beetroot and Tamarind chutney, plus some additional tamarind chutney.
The tray of eggs (30) cost $3.75. At that price, I almost bought 2 trays.
Mozzarella and tomato passata was bought on a whim, maybe to make a pizza today... but plans changed, we're going to get a takeaway.
The beer - a necessity because my SIL is coming over (she's just arrived) and I seriously need a drink when she's here.

This morning at Walmart eggs were $5.17/dozen... This summer I'm building a coop and done with this commercial egg pricing BS with my own chickens. 🤨

I bought eggs yesterday - organic, free range, certified humane…all the bells and whistles, and I paid $5.49/dozen. I consider that a bargain, since these aren’t the basic supermarket eggs.

I seriously don’t get the whole egg-pricing conundrum. I know it’s real, as I’ve seen others post some crazy prices for eggs, but I’ve been paying between $4-$6 for a dozen large eggs, like the ones I just bought, since just before Covid in 2020. That’s whether I go to Kroger, the international market, the gourmet market, the organic farmer around the corner, or ALDI.

Back in 2020…yeah, I thought $5 for a dozen eggs was a little pricey, but I liked that they were the “deluxe” ones, but now?…I’m paying about $5.50 a dozen, week in and week out, and it seems like a bargain.
