Many moons ago, isinglass was used to preserve eggs.

I've thought of that and I think they easiest storage option is oiled and back in the carton. I don't know how deep you can stack eggs or how the shells might degrade, if they do, over time.

I don't think I will either but when they quit laying in November and don't start again until March I'll keep them. My grocery budget doesn't allow for eggs to be more than $3.50/dozen so Ill give it a whirl. Didn't have any eggs this past winter so why not?

Me neither - a tray of eggs (30 over here) lasts about a week or 10 days.

The hard boiled eggs sold in their shells here (in cartons in amongst the raw ones so that gets confusing) have a coating of shellac on them to keep them fresh. I'm planning on taking some with me as pannier food this time.

First stop at Walmart. Pippi gets the Velveeta slices and I get those other ones. Ozzie likes the trimmings from the beef cheeks. JAS_OH1 the cheeks are right next to the liver.

Tastykake for the bread and Pippi's sausage.

I'd run down the ingredients in the fridge, so it was time to go to the supermarket.
Loads of vegetables (tomatoes, spinach, aubergines, spring onions, cilantro, two types of chile), peeled prawns, tortillas, white cheese, eggs and food for Mr Porky.
And beer!
