What will you be watching on TV tonight (2024)?

Only way to get a signal to my TV is hotspot from the phone. 50 gigs goes pretty quick so I just use the phone; unless the movie is particularly enthralling. 🤷‍♂️

Well all the TV tech has moved on a mile since I bought my last TV. They connect to the internet and sort out all that buffering stuff for you.
Alternatively you could have look at Starlink. We have 13-17mbps without it.
With it around 100!

Seeing my son's new TV has made me decide I'll be getting one very soon. Amazing, simply amazing picture quality. Nature programmes are out of this world, I thought that shark would come straight out of the screen for a bite 😆

The adds come in at 5Mbps and the data I'm watching maybe 600K. 🤷‍♂️ One day...

When in Las Vegas I had 700 Mbps into the modem and averaged 80 or so out to devices. The things you get used to! Wasn't on acres out in the woods either. 🤣

This is an ATT cell tower thing. It's doable; just doesn't move right along... I'm 2 bumps from invisible.

Probably much better but I'm averse to the signal disruption, that I'll still be charged for, that the weather and trees would incur. The treetops are only a few degrees lower than the dish angle. Also, the dish providers have limits on high speed data after a certain point at which point I'm right back here again but have two bills for data! 😧

There are no guarantees if your location is shared with a lot of other users it won’t get throttled at peak times.
But starlink is unlimited and the lowest ours has ever dropped to in two years is 80.
We are surrounded by trees, taller than our house.
If you’re happy with 5G then all power to your elbow but personally even though I’m not a Musk fan I’ve found his Starlink excellent - no data limit, no speed caps, no long term contract.
And they made sure they could deliver what we expected at our address before we went with them.

There is often one person streaming and two gaming at the same time (often they all both stream and game at the same time 😱) and we’ve had no problems.

Maybe Yellowjackets

Another Britbox Ghost Story for Christmas, followed by The Flash.

Have you seen her ‘Blitz spirit’ one?
I was aware of most of it but some of it was a surprise. Pretty good acting in that one too.
I’m not sure that’s made it here yet (to the streaming services I have), but I’ve noted it.

I’d gladly watch her do a program on the history of glue.
